Samsung Galaxy Note7 loses to year old iPhone 6s in speed test

23 August, 2016
Despite being a year old, the iPhone 6s is known to hold its own against more modern devices in speed tests. This is in no small parts due to Apple's software optimization, the performance of the A9 chip, and incredibly quick NVMe storage. But how does it fare against the brand new Galaxy Note7?

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2016Torrent apps -> never needed that sideloading apps ->... morereally? so why it cost over $700 when it doesn't have any feature like android? it should be less than $300, if i'm correct, right? cause it doesn't have anything like the android fan just stated? it just have, based on this thread argument, a speed killing apps loading feature. and, does any iphone do multitasking? like, running apps in background? or it just kill apps as soon as you close?

And if you compare it in gaming (the only thing where you need graphics) and if the iPhone would have the same resolution as Note7, it would be on par because their GPUs are around the same (SD820 GPU is of course little faster, but it is also much newer. For sure, A10 GPU of iPhone 7 coming in a few weeks will be better again)

Someone Else, 23 Aug 2016You my friend, had made many apple fanboys speechless. Wait... moreAs I have an Apple Watch & the iPhone 6+ I guess you can call me a "Fanboy" & I would argue that I am not as I AM looking at upgrading to the S7 Edge, we will see.

Anyway, am I speechless? Nope. Even though ou make some very valid points at what the iPhone can't do, it will never do those things as it was never in Jobs mind to have removable parts, or customisation they way you want it. Jobs prided himself on having the perfect phone but it was the way that he saw it, no one else. Out of the box there isn't much an iOS device can't do that an Android device can, it's the way you use it. So for the people who want a phone to smooth & quick without lag, gets the job done & is easy to use then surely you would pick an iPhone. If you want to tinker around with the other things that Android can do, have the ability to control your TV using your phone & other things then yes, pick Android.

You choose a phone based on your wants & needs, nothing else.

Savor , 23 Aug 2016Don't care, don't care, don't care! Note7 is the only answe... moreTorrent apps -> never needed that
sideloading apps -> that is a feature I wanted to have for iOS. But just for playing around and testing beta versions of apps
file manager app -> why do u need that?
Software updates that lags your iPhone after in -> The 4 years old iPhone 5 is perfectly working today. They also get longer official update support (I know there is XDA, but what's up when your phone crashes by doing that?)
Multiple video codec support (can't read MKV or AVI) -> Nobody needs that in a phone. I make a video and then finished. Nothing more to do, why needing something like that? I never missed it on my iPad and never used it on my android phone
No VR -> Just search on the app store, there are many vr apps
no micro-sd card slot -> When you have too many photos and videos, make them on pc or upload them to iCloud or upload the high res files to iCloud and leave the low res on phone and when you need them you can download them... Furthermore, it slows down the complete phone if you make apps and music and photos and videos on them because there is no micro SD card faster than the internal memory of most phones
No app gestures -> Never needed that. I unlock my phone and click on the app icon, that's all. If you need something fancy like that, get jailbreak
No custom launchers -> Most of custom launchers are worse than stock and slow down the system. For example, on Android, there are only two good ones: Nova and Google Now, rest is trash. If you really need it: Jailbreak
No ability to change icon pack -> Why do I need to mess up my icons just to learn again what icon opens which app? Just fancy and for playing around. If you really need it: jailbrealk
No drawer or ability to hide apps -> drawer is useless, at iOS the home screen works like a drawer on android. Hiding stock apps is possible with iOS 10. If you don't want to see your apps, then you don't need them and you can delete them. There is also the possibility to make a folder at the last page which you never open
Can't make apps your default -> Why do you need it? Safari is fast and secure, apple music can play songs like every other, photos is one of the best photo apps around, camera is very fast and simple just as you need a camera app. When you don't like the Apple Apps and ecosystem, then you don't buy an iPhone
Sharing within the apps is limited -> In my opinion that is wrong, where is it limited? Give me some examples
No fast charging -> It's still not known if this damages your battery. If you want faster charging, buy a better power supply than the stock apple one
No longer tops in camera -> What do u compare? iPhone 6s vs Note7? An old year phone vs a brand new one? You have to wait until iPhone 7. And by the way, Apple has best slo mo (720p@120fps, 720p@240fps, 1080p@120fps)
No longer tops in design -> This is your personal taste. Some people prefer an aluminum back over a fragile glass back, others love the seamless glass back without antenna lines.
No IR blaster -> This is not needed. If you have a philips TV for example, you can install Phillips my remote to control it
No removable battery -> Yes you can remove it. Open up the back and change it...
No FM Radio -> If you need Radio, you can use some internet radio apps. But streaming or storing songs is better than radio
Terrible value/feature ratio -> This is no surprise if you understand such things you listed above as "features". I understand them as things to play around. After you, a used 50€ android phone would be better than the newest iPhone
iPhone 7 is barely getting dust/water resistance -> Who knows? It isn't released yet!
iPhone 7 is barely getting wireless charging -> Who knows? It isn't released yet!
iTunes is still the crux to handle all your media -> Why is it a disadvantage? I think it's good to have all these things at one place
Can't delete photo albums unless synced to computer -> This is wrong. You can create and delete photo albums in the photos app as much as you want
Can't mass delete videos and music (no select all) -> On photos, there you can tap on "choose" and then swipe up to delete all. On music idk
Can't have a mini-video player while doing something else -> On the iPad. Since iOS 9, this is possible on iPad. For iPhone, it would be too small and make no sense
No back button so mandatory home presses -> Nope, there are back buttons on the display everywhere in the system
No double tap to wake up or sleep -> For sleep, it is useless. There it is easier to press the sleep/wake button. In iOS 10, there will be something called "raise to wake" (and I'm sure this will be a thing Android O will copy)
Can't bluetooth data transfer -> Yes, it's called AirDrop and present since iOS 7
iOS doesn't have QuickPic (photos & videos viewer) -> No need, we have photos
iOS doesn't have MX Player for background play -> Yes we have MX Player. And background play is possible with the following trick https://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-play-youtube-videos-in-background-on-iphone-ipad/
iOS runs well because can't do much in the background -> unfounded
iOS = the mobile OS built for rich or tech dummies -> Nope. iOS = the mobile OS built for people who want to keep it simple and don't need an overload of useless features which are mostly just for playing around and wasting time with things you don't even have to worry about with an iPhone

guys.... the phone just dropped... wait for a couple of software updates and then we will see what happens... iphone had some poblems too when it was launched. so wait for it.

actually iphone lost it in the first minute when the specs show the resolution.
ok i agree, the s7 series need tweaking in the software, bet lets have a look at this...
as such more resolution means more graphic power to take care of it, the supposedly retina resolution of iphone gives a total of 1,000,500 pixels,, whereas the s7 note or any of the competetors they showed in the first minute had QHD screens with a whopping, 3,686,400 pixels, thats 360% more pixels to take care of....that means all graphics will be heavier to lift..
and ofcourse we'll talk after the iphone can take a dip and come back

Android is not for the faint of heart. It isn't catered to kids who want rose gold iPhones and My Little Pony translucent homescreen colors. Like in the film, 300, when King Leonidas screamed, "THIS IS SPARTA!" Take it or leave, "THIS IS ANDROID!" Reality isn't perfect and Android is more practical for the real world. This isn't Gingerbread era anymore. Android had already surpassed iOS by 2012-2013 as the better OS.

Put a robust Android on iPhone 6s specs and watch it hang and lag because it only has 2gb of RAM and dual core. Can't multi-task as great. Apple iOS is for the PG-rated crowd. You want to do some dirty work flashing ROMs, throttling down the CPU, or checking your SCREEN ON TIME, the smarter people use Android. Yes, Android has its flaws. Samsung also has its flaws with software optimization. But look at my long laundry list that Apple hasn't been added yet on iPhones.

Apple takes them 3-5 years until they add "old" features of Android. It will probably take them another 3-5 years to make VR for iPhone since they are still stuck on 750p/1080p screens. Apple will wait if VR takes off and makes them money which is the only thing that matters to them. Price gouging. Then when VR does arrive for iPhone, guess what? They reward their procrastination and reward your patience by charging you double than their competition. That's like Sony. A middle finger to your loyalty! Milking you by their reputation.

Apple Watch is a big waste of money but go ahead and throw away your money for fun like what most suckers do buying Apple products for some overrated "ecosystem." Cross platform is real computing. Open. Not closed off with segregation. Ask Windows users over Mac users why Microsoft beat Macintosh. Android is as Personal Computer as it comes. That closed philosophy doesn't work in the long haul. Keep technology universal. People will grow tired of adopting to new standards and using proprietary services with a limited reach like what happened to BBM users.

                                    Recent quarter marketshare
                                    Android = 86.2%
                                    iOS = 12.9%

                                    Note7 (64gb + free 256gb card = 320gb) = $850
                                    iPhone 7 (256gb) = $850

                                    ^ Do the math, kids.

Almost laughable to think iOS has a chance ever catching up to Android when it comes to volume sales and practical features. I will never buy another phone that lacks micro-sd which Apple doesn't plan on adding anytime soon. Remember, iOS is for neophytes, so beginner specs can run it fine. Android is built for what the USER have in mind.

Go ahead and make iPhone look good when Note7 is the only right answer for the most practical reasons.

                                    Function > Fashion

I don't buy phones to lay there and look "pretty." So I don't care about shallow scratches. I am getting Note7 for more practical reasons. And the Note7 happens to look better than the iPhone 6s and 7 anyway. Go away, Apple. Beginner OS with beginner specs. Apple insulted everyone's intelligence and made money from people who lacked any.
