Samsung Galaxy Note7 loses to year old iPhone 6s in speed test

23 August, 2016
Despite being a year old, the iPhone 6s is known to hold its own against more modern devices in speed tests. This is in no small parts due to Apple's software optimization, the performance of the A9 chip, and incredibly quick NVMe storage. But how does it fare against the brand new Galaxy Note7?

I wonder why you dont use Iphone 6s Plus? Plus is slower than normal iphone 6s?
This is NOT fair to compare this 2 phones like this...
if i benchmark Windows 95 to other Windows!
Windows 95 WINS!!! Because Windows 95 is the lightest and the most simple one...
    IOS has No multitasking...
    No multi user!
Very low resulation! 1.000.500 dot to 3.686.400 dot in 2D... Iphone has nearly 4 times less pixel in 2D
in 3D if effects about 8-9 times...
Then if we could bechmarks the OSes... I bet MSDOS WINS! Do you BET?

Phones are catered for all people from young to old, from male to female!

I choose Apple for what it does for me (& the fact that I have shelled out for many paid apps) but if I choose the S7 Edge I will choose it because I fancy a change.

Samsung desperately needs to ditch Android for its own Tizen OS and prove it can create its own ecosystem without using Google/Android as a crutch..Samsung has it easy smooching off Google/Android by easily slapping Touchwiz bloated junk on top of a fragmented crap OS...

I am a huge Android fanboy, nothing is wrong with Android itself its just that we don't have as good a SoC(System on Chip) Apple made a marvel chipset the A9 and A9X, but that is it, Android is in no way at fault(maybe Samsung is in not unoptimised TouchWiz UI running on top of Android) A9X is the only thing I envy in anything Apple. Dont mind these samboys they are blind fanboys;)

So the year-old iPhone 6s turns out to be faster than not even a month old Galaxy Note 7 and Android users are baffled; arguably so because the Samsung Galaxy Note offers the best specs in the market and iPhone uses almost 3-year old hardware.
And Android fanboys come rushing shouting that iPhone 6s has a sub-par display and the CPU has to work less and hence it is much faster. Agreed!!!
The display advantage is really offset because the N7 uses an octa-core processor (that's 4 times the number of cores in A9; should be able to handle almost 4 times the display resolution on the iPhone 6s). But what about the 4 gigs of RAM? Is that RAM only put in to entice customers? The iPhone has a measly 2gigs RAM and even budget Android phones have 3gigs now. Even then the iPhone 6s wins.
Well now fanboys will say the number of cores and the amount of RAM really means nothing as it gives no tangible performance bonus. Why then do you guys are ecstatic when Samsung or any one else chips in a 8 or 10-core processor or 4-6 gigs of RAM, if its really not related to performance boost??
iOS is very restricted and that's the beauty of it. Apple optimizes the hardware and the software and the two work in unison to provide a stellar performance. Samsung makes great hardware (the S7 Edge and the N7 are two of the most beautiful devices in the market) but Samsung has no control over Android and its Touchwiz is infact more of an obstruction to a smooth performance. Nexus devices use stock Android and that's why they are more fluidic and smooth.
And barring the raw specs on paper and the display on iPhone 6s (which is surely a major shortcoming), the Galaxy line-up isn't really much ahead of 6s in most things. Only after years of trying, S6 and now, S7 cameras have been able to better the ones on iPhone 6s. And with the next generation iPhone launching, it looks like Apple will pay serious attention to the camera. And iPhones have always been very reliable cameras, infact the most widely used camera phones in the world.

But, regardless of me switching over or not Apple will still shift a few million units of the iPhone 7 & it may pull back the market share for many Androids are out there.

I know there are areas that Android will forever trump iOS & I do wish there was more customisation but there still a few areas that iOS trump Android as well. Like I said, it's all down to personal preference.

https://youtu.be/usYgWZVjVWQ See it for yourself, note 7 test with 720p mode, it made zero difference.

Also try to lower your PC resolution and see if it opens softwares faster with 800* 600 res, and the answer is no, it doesnt.

Lower res screen only helps you with graphical things like gaming or making 3D etc.

I use all mobile platforms Android/iOS/Windows Mobile. It's crazy to see folks trying to justify this blog/posting or give reasons for superiority.

To me unless your comparing apples to apples (no pun intended) it's useless. We've already seen the xda postings comparing the HTC 10/OP3 to the Note 7 and it should just end there. Truth be it Samsung is struggling to optimize their software on an ANDROiD platform.

If you weren't suffering from myopia like Apple, you would see Android is clearly superior to iOS in most areas. An iPhone user can't correct lacking a micro-sd slot, S-Pen, or VR. But okay, win in a couple areas. That's like saying Steph Curry is better than LeBron James when all he is really good at is shooting three pointers. Any other area like passing, defense, leadership, durability, LeBron wins.

Android Marshmallow or Nougat would never run correctly on specs from an iPhone 6s or 7 just by how restricted and limited iOS already is. All that optimization and speed wasted from Apple restrictions to lock you in with their ecosystem. For the PG-rated, tech beginners' market. I used all mobile platforms and it bothers me when I can Bluetooth data transfer between Android and Windows Phone, but iOS can't because it doesn't play well with others. Use same charger for Android & WP too.

Easy to use because iOS is catered for beginners. Go on the reviews here and GSM Arena always mentions handling media is very dependent with iTunes. I also hate needing to use an MP4 converter programs. Two programs I hate having on my PC. You need to jump through a bunch of loops to deal with easy to use iOS to get anything done. I hope iOS marketshare continues to go down.

The rest of the world outside the United States no longer are suffering from an Apple Plague. We ain't falling for their crap anymore.

If you love the smoothnest of iOS, the better ecosystem, the simple user interface, go ahead and upgrade to the iPhone 6s or soon-to-be-released iphone 7.(Btw, regretting my decision to update my ip5 to iOS9, it's slows down my iPhone)

But if you like beutiful displays, the best cameras, speed improvement in every updates, and like to play around with your smartphone to make it yours (the only thing iOS let me change is my wallpaper), then go ahead and upgrade to the Note7 or S7.

I only speak from my experiences owning the 2 devices. I would prefer my S6 edge though. Hope i can be a little help to you.
