[deleted post]And that's what I think of Symbian in general (I haven't experienced Symbian3 though). However, besides Symbian, what's up with Nokia and its ARM 11 love. That mobile CPU is outdated. On N8 videos showing the UI, it still looks laggy, I'd forget that coming from a Nokia C7 (which has the same hw specs btw) but for its premium device, the successor in the mythical N-Series, I just cannot understand it! I would've loved to see a more capable Cortex A8 powering the N8 like its concept phone brother the N900.

I love Nokia but I just can't wait them anymore. I'm OK with Symbian but it still lags behind Android 2.x and iOS4. Not to mention the several bugs I've been dealing with on Symbian in the past 2 years and I know every smartphone has software flaws but I think Nokia's been pulling out its flagship devices with so unpolished software (n97 for example), you can only get a fully functional phone after one year of updates. It's getting too late for Nokia, the N8 seems to be a good device, however 'good' isn't enough these days with so many powerful offerings out there for the same money and I'm talking about overall appeal not only a 12MP camera and HDMI output. I hope N9 with MeeGo catapults Nokia to the peak once more. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for my Galaxy S to arrive.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2010I wonder why Nokia articles generate so many comments. Just... moreNokia is stil the market leader. That's why most phone fanatics still look towards Nokia when a new phone comes out because really if you think about it. It is Nokia that is the benchmark for all other phone makers.
So when Nokia makes a new phones.. the comments are from people who are jealous and for the real people who are interested in the phone itself.

I wonder why Nokia articles generate so many comments. Just a week a go a article about the N8 generated over 1000 comments on GSMarena. Reading alot of comments i see that loads of people love Nokia, but equally many are jealous. That must be why.

Q. How do you get 30% of the smartphone market?
A. Start with 70% and screw up royally (just ask Nokia).
Good luck with the rebuilding.
Sorry for the sacked workers.

Stop saying s^3 browser is crap again and again. Because it really is crap and no one's denying that. But why would you bring a topic non-related to the post itself? The post talks about future updates, and hopes for s^3 users. And nokia's corporate health. Not a post proving a crap browser is the best! Some symbian haters really bring their hate too far. It's unbelievable. Mind your own business - do us a favor by putting that in mind. Just for once, symbian doesn't need to compete in terms of functionality, but their playing catch-up in terms of usability and eye-candy for people to shallow headed to understand the current symbian. Admit it, their numbers grow, the prescence of haters justifies.

(Reply from nokia)not going to launch anything as Symbian^4, we’ll stop using the version numbers. Instead, we’ll evolve the UI, apps and service experiences in the new Symbian towards the design we had planned for Symbian^4, but in a series of development steps. These updates will also be made available for you as an N8 user, for example.

Oh my my!
What the big "N" afraid of?!losing the lead?losing even more market share?!destroyed?
"despite shrinking market share Nokia remains largest cell phone manufacturer" how long this lead can hold?!
Well want it or not you must accept it Samsung will outpace Nokia,it's just about time...
at least i'm glad Nokia is still making money, good for them.but they should realize their new CEO Stephen Elop,if he is really has courage to turn the company back to glory he could gladly do that for his chubby bald head boss in Microsoft.

[deleted post]If you are of the opinion that the n8 output viz hdmi is nhd, then you obviously know less about the phone than you thought you did. The n8 puts out full hd resolution viz hdmi. This is the same as any other mobile so there is no 'nasty surprise'. All existing hdmi ready mobiles put out the same resolution.

These people seen unable to comprehend the difference between, what they think is the problem, what they would love to be the problem and what the problem actually is.
Windows xp, with 256 mb ram without any virtual ram(the n8 has 768mb virtual ram hence bringing the total usable ram to 1gb) easily loads youtube, engadget and other large sites talk less a mobile os.
