[deleted post]In fact quite the contrary. In my experience the older, wiser, more mature crowd seem to prefer Symbian. In general it is the kiddies that enjoy Android, it must be the cute childlike robot logo that does it for them.
Joke if you must but I still reckon my conclusion was closer to the truth...

[deleted post]Where did you get the idea that a 'meager' 2MB page will need 512 RAM and 1Ghz proc? I used to load more than that on my cousin's super ancient 512 MB RAM and pentium 3 powered PC. Guess what, the resolution is 800 by 600, much more than N8, and that also on IE7 (the king of all crap browsers)!

[deleted post]N97 was sheer crap - agreed. But 5230 is actually the best 'smartphone' you can get at its price range. Think a little before bursting into any rant.

[deleted post]no it doesn`t lol
i`ve used it and it`s nice and all but it eats RAM like a fat kid
so it`s useless to me plus 6 widgets on one screen is fine i`ve had the n900 and i most used 2 sometimes 3 cause of the size
but it`s better since all of them are the same size so none of the widgets are fighting over screen space
ANOTHER SMART MOVE by NOKIA which people can`t see

[deleted post]You actually have 'NO' idea how webpage rendering works. There are two ways of rendering a flash 10.1 object, via CPU rendering, CPU plus GPU rendering. The first case will need at least 1 Ghz proc, so that's out of question for N8. The second option is 'THE' way Symbian is gonna do it, so I guess it'll be find. Moreover, as it seems you don't know, the reason S60 browser fails to load heavy webpages is due to ancient Javascript rendering, not flash.

Clint, 21 Oct 2010...but of course we all know that Android and iPhone had al... moreActually, the iphone has none of these things. It doesn't even have a home screen talkless multiple. It doesnt have and is never getting flash or true multi tasking. Neither is android any time soon.
I've finished my previous download. My nokia is connected to my windows 7 pc using usb in mass storage mode while i move the file. I prefer this to pc suite mode as its faster. At the same time, the same nokia is connected to the sand pc via bluetooth in pc suite mode while i use the phone as a modem to update my antivirus. I also, at the same time, am typing this message in my opera mini on the same device connected using a different access point. I opened up my download manager connected vga wifi and opera mobile connected with its own unique access point. Just to test the limits. It total, i have 1usb connection, 2 wireless connections and 3 packed data connections on a single device with 128mb ram. Each packet data connection has its own unique apn, ip address and port and settings. Thats true multi tasking. Thats symbian. No other platform except maybe winno 6.5 can perform a similar feat but symbian has been doing it since 2003 on my first ever symbian device, the 6630. I've been so spoilt with multi tasking, i can't live without it. Endless possibilities.
Every os has its strongs.

Smart move to drop Symbian^4 and stick with the current Symbian^3 platform. I hope they really mean it, and aren't just doing it to spur sales of N8s and etc. Nokia's OS strategy has far been outdated. In a world where Android and iOS devices update to new features if they can run them... Symbian looked like a dinosaur. Now, with future expandability and a real road map for future development they can start working on the core services and applications that will sell phones, instead of just repackaging the same ideas over and over again with a new desktop interface. I think it's good move... hopefully it pays off.

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2010My nokia n95 8gb, made in 2007 loads engadget in its inbuil... more...but of course we all know that Android and iPhone had all these things the very day they were released. In fact they were the perfect Os from the start! I really cannot understand why they are even bothering to release new versions of Android...

[deleted post]My nokia n95 8gb, made in 2007 loads engadget in its inbuilt browser. Scrolling gets quite choppy but it does the job. With opera mobile, it does it perfectly. Symbian is expecting a totally new web browser before the year runs out. It should support 10.1. Symbian with spb mobile shell supports up to 10home screens. Thats more than any android phone till date. There is also a theme on the shell that gives your symbian device the looks of froyo for those who like it. I personally prefer the default ui. Its all clockwork for me as a symbian user since 2003. Whats wrong with widgets on symbian? Well spb shell offers android like ones if those are what you prefer. But now.
Android won't give you usb on the go no matter the software. I don't see many androids with hdmi out either. I don't think they allow you half the functionality of symbian either. Do you know for example, how many things you could do to a contact in the symbian phonebook? Endless possibilities.

Excellent stuff Nokia! So all those writing off the N8 as a result of it being Symbian^3 and Nokia talking about Symbian^4 will now need to find something else to rip off.
Nokia owners will now have a future proofed phone!

Alui, 21 Oct 2010May I give you an answer? Look on the GSMArena review. Eve... moreAre symbian browsers not capable of rendering web pages? Okay its not smooth when scrolling but aren't you able to read info?Animated backgrounds, you might find it amusing but most people dont. Sony ericsson was capable of animated backgrounds on feature phones so i dont see why nokia smartphones cant. Your lame excuses to put down symbian are just pathetic. Only thing letting down nokia is ram and cpu.
