Jumbo, 01 Sep 2016What phone are you looking at? Your points barely make any ... moreThe XZ does not have the water/dust proofing like the Xperia Performance. It is listed as water resistant though. Check the stats. In other words. its a step backward.

It's so unfortunate that Xperia X - probably the most anticipated phone of the IFA, turned out to be such a huge flop... Terribly thick, no water proof, still HD display, cheap shiny plastic, no metal, overall outdated design due to wide bezels etc. plus very high price and.. honestly one of the biggest disappointments of smartphone industry in 2016.

AnonD-122669, 01 Sep 2016SOny's phones run smooth with 3gb of ram as much as others ... moreOIS? Oh you mran that 3 axis stabilisation.
This beast has five axis stabilisation, and Triple focus solution on a 23 mpx sensor
This is KING of mobile photography and video

jrharbort, 01 Sep 2016I was honestly expecting the X Compact to be a true flagshi... moreI've been saying that since my z1c! Which I'm still using. Luckily it's good enough to keep using today.. and a good thing since too, it needs to be! I'm kinda really tired of always skipping and waiting for the next gen though....

AnonD-312515, 01 Sep 2016Unless you REALLY want to get a compact phone there's plent... moreYeah. But I really really want -only- a compact and I'm prepared to pay -more- than the larger model in exchange for the miniaturization. The XZ (especially in platinum) is --perfect--, if not for the size.

I was honestly expecting the X Compact to be a true flagship compact. A successor to my Z3 Compact. Instead we get a device with a midrange chipset and removal of water proofing. Looks like I'm skipping this generation as well.

AnonD-312515, 01 Sep 2016It's not like them to make another compact in such a short ... moreYou're right, they're not, but then again maybe they've finally realized that that's where their niche is..? The well-specced minis... This A Compact is clearly exactly that, a compact of the X, not the XZ.. and this is exactly 6 months after the release of the X. So perhaps they've decided to produce more than one compact this time around and will follow the XZ with its compact in six months' time. One can hope, right? :)

Especially since, Sony's claim on the "ultimate small android" was won exactly on the basis of flagship specs with style. This X Compact doesn't have either of those and I find it hard to accept that Sony are degrading the one product they could really shout about. If they in fact are... That would be incredibly sad.

Sony is simply blank and non-innovative these days. They hardware is not on par with current flagships and these cameras are bound to melt after 5-15 minutes of 4K video recording (overheat). Shomy...

Hmm, too thin bezels. Sony, please add an inch of bezel on each side on the next phones.

Jumbo, 01 Sep 2016What phone are you looking at? Your points barely make any ... morePricing is of the essence. I'm sure these are fine phones, but they woefully under-deliver at their respective price points.

Also be aware these are announced phones, not something you can buy from a store shelf right now. By the time they are actually at the shelves and the general public starts getting them, they'll no longer have the latest SoCs -- which is odd for the price Sony is commanding.

So, what does Sony bring to the table that sets them apart?
There's the nice 23MP camera that just got an upgrade -- but doesn't do 4K on the Compact, because the SoC sucks. The selfie cam is also a lesser version on the Compact, because apparently Sony thinks a 500€+ phone is something they can keep cutting corners -- as if the major cut in the SoC wasn't enough already.
Then there's the plastic build. But wait! Although you're getting a plastic piece of c#$% the designers where thinking of ceramic! That makes it all better and totally justifies the pricetag! (NOT)

This looks like a phone from 2009. I've been looking to downsize from my 6.44" Z Ultra but I'll never use a phone smaller than 5.5" again (nor will Sony make one that size again, apparently). Nobody wants a sub 5" flagship. If they're old enough to want such a tiny phone then they aren't paying flagship prices.
