Sony is only going to sink lower in the smartphone market at this rate! They started out so well with the z, z2 appart from the price. Now however they are waaay behind Samsung and apple in terms of performance, design and camera. No 2k or 4k screen so will be hopeless is VR, low ram( i use a opo and monitor ram usage it will only suffice another year or so till its always maxing at 3gb because of OS and apps etc. Camera has always been rubbish on their phones and i guess nothings changed yet, no new dual camera, laser focus, ois, etc not even 4k recording yet which my opo nearly 3 years old can do.

Beautifully shattered into pieces. I'd rather have cheap dents than pick up pieces of broken glass. Besides, there's something called a phone cover, if I'm not mistaken.

Which is the reason they always have problems with heat, and is the reason their images tend to have too many artefacts and look like there's too much postprocessing.

What a load of junk, my Z3 compact is better than that X compact. If Sony are really not going to make a Z6 they could have at least given us a compact version of the XZ >.>

- Innovative but tired? These are opposites.. they can't be both. Good-looking but tired.. maybe. Innovative but ugly.. maybe. Can't be both though.
- SD821 should be used because 820 is too old? It's what, 200Mhz difference? Big whoop.
- XZ has waterproofing
- XZ has Fingerprint scanner. Sony's US issues are a separate thing, not a fault of the XZ itself..
- 3Gb not enough? Maybe if you're running a critical database on your phone.. but you're not, are you..
Someone's making things up here... grudge maybe?

It’s clear that Sony still doesn't get it with the XZ. They have come up with yet another loser in a long line of also-ran losers. The design represents only a small departure from Xperia’s familiar cues, for better or worse. The camera’s five-axis stabilization is an impressive feat of mobile engineering. And the display, while lower in resolution than some of the competition, is bright and vivid. Why not use quad HD or Amoled display?
It’s a shame, then, that the collective weight of all the XZ’s little shortcomings ultimately drag it down. The design is unrefined. The software is strangely unresponsive and jerky. The camera is a disappointment, as are the audio and speakers. And the handset lacks basics practically ubiquitous in its category — namely waterproofing and a fingerprint sensor.
A lot could change between now and October, but it’s safe to say Sony has its work cut out for it.
Who is running SONY anyway? Are you listening SONY? We are your customers. Stop ignoring us!
HIGHS:
Innovative but rather tired design
Impressive image stabilization
Vivid display, but not as bright and clear as Amoled or quad-HD
LOWS:
Disappointing camera, slow and poor low light performance....again.
Sluggish performance...why not use SD 821? SD-820 is last year's news.
Weak speakers and audio
No fingerprint sensor
Memory not competitive. 3GB is not good enough. Why not 4 or 6 GB?

Sony is the best. I don't need 4gb ram. I believe sony is best in performance and design. I ll buy Xperia xz

I love the Platinum of the XZ but the format of the X compact. Ok it could be thinner.
No waterproofing on Compact means it's "only" a mini, save the Compact name for a real XZ Compact. Knowing my luck they'll release it at CES in the same Platinum as the XZ.... after I buy the XZ instead, even though the 5.2" is far bigger than my liking... :/

No matter how many sensors it got, pic is noisy, no clear details, feels like less res paint job. Specs almost same as Z5, with compact without ipxx/4K. Even coming CES/MWC 2017 wont save this.
