Not a fan of samsung, i am currently using the galaxy s4 from 3 years ago and never had problems with it although my next phone will be another brand. Samsung is doing a good job by recalling it and issues a replacement that's the seriousness of a company. I will never buy a phone with a battery soldiered in i guess that's one of the disadvantage things of having the battery sealed.

S7 Edge yay, 02 Sep 2016As you already know the WHOLE phone has to be replaced due ... moreWater proofing is not an excuse. There are water resistant smartphones with removable batteries. And there are tons of non-water-resistent phones with non-removable batteries.
It's just politics. And this time it backfired (No pun intended lol) big time.

          AnonD-429683, 02 Sep 2016Wow I thought something was strange when I saw Li-Po instea... moreAs you already know the WHOLE phone has to be replaced due to it having a NON user replaceable battery { hich is the waterproofing aspect}

Just listened to the BBC NEWS at 13.00 BST and in South Korea you can or will be able take it into store and they can run a test to detect if it does have a faulty battery but in the main ALL NOTE 7 will be replaced

So this is ME and WILD GUESS if it hasn't exploded and it explodes when recharged then likely to be OK(as rechargeds already)????
BUT I accept that I don't know how long other users had their phones and whether or not it was an issue with say the overcharge protector alone
If it is the overcharge protector alone then above being ok is wrong as the battery ONLY explodes when overcharged but again this paragraph is pure speculation

The FAULT rate from reported so far is 24 per one million shipped

NOTE 1 this is unique event, not on the S7, S7 Edge etc,
In the report also they asked a person at the IFA...explosions is always the due battery so the least expensive component is the Achilles heel

So Samsung are capable of testind all the now UNSHIPPED items for this fault and replacing those with faulty batteries
It appears to be a QC issue but happens at the WORST time for Samsung with the imminent announcement of the iPhone6SS and iPhone6SS Plus

AnonD-292864, 02 Sep 2016They already reached Apple and passed it years ago.Actually 4 (four) years ago!
The S3 was a little bit better, than the actual Iphone, after that, the S4 destroyed Iphones, and it willl take years for Apple to catch up with Samsung. Maybe around 2020 there will not remain much to add to phones, and all brands will mature to the same high-end quality.
But between 2013 and 2020 Apple fell behind, and will fall behind Samsung.
The Iphone 6s is literally a midrange phone (with high-end pricing).
The Iphone 7 will be an upper midranger, and so on. By around 2020 Apple will be also able to reach the high-end level. But sadly, by then that will be the standard among all the other brands.

First the issue with the stylus and then this battery issue which is a life threatening hazard as well, it clearly shows the absence of proper quality control in Samsung. To add more pain to the Samsung fans such problems are occuring in a 900$ flagship device. It's like selling your kidney to buy a phone that sets your room on fire when you charge it.
With problems being reported in LG G5 as well, Apple being too less (and backdated features) for too much, I guess I will go and buy Sony Xperia XZ when it becomes available.

What a disaster the Note series is. Once Samsung's flagship, always a step ahead as compared to Galaxy S series, now it's its little brother both quality wise and having important features first.

Nowadays it's all about the S series. What a sad demise for the Note series, I mean it's using 6 month old hardware which is being beaten by cheaper Chinese phones, and now this?

It just means that even if 1/100,000 exploded they would have a lot of lawsuits on their hands, and potentially deaths and houses burning down.
