Zanche, 05 Sep 2016The iphone will always be better in benchmarks because ios ... moreIt's not about the features, it's all about software optimisation. Apple produces it's own hardware and iOS is "tailored" for the iPhone so even "inferior" (comparing to quad and octa core processors in Android phones) dual core processor performs much better than any average and even high-end Android phone.

because osx is intended to be used with desktop processors.
and ios is intended to be used with very low powered mobile processors.

All processors inside phones is powered with very small energy (i.e very small battery). It still can't compete with real desktop-class-processor.

for example: my 8 years old core2 laptop can smoothly run visual studio 2015, android studio, eclipse, etc. Very low powered devices such as phone and tablet still can not do that.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2016It's funny how "mobile" chips consistently outperform lapto... moreThe mainstream i3/i5/i7 are still MILES ahead of any ARM competition in actual capability and heavy lifting, Geekbench scores notwithstanding. They are irrelevant scores, especially for cross platform comparisons.

If you do want to compare, look at the FP performance of the Intel big boys and the fastest ARM processor.

Mobile chips, although progressing rapidly, are still inadequate for heavy and complex software like CAD and real Photoshop.

Impressive scores. Now put that monster into a phone with 2k AMOLED screen, 6GB of RAM, LEICA camera, expandable storage, removable 4000 mAh battery and most importantly Android and it would smash every competition. Why not sell your CPU to other manufacturers, Apple? Samsung does it as well (Meizu), so why not?

That's revolutionary gains for just 3 years.

It's mightily impressive, my comparison computers gained 20% performance in the same period (x1.2 instead of x3.5)

It's funny how "mobile" chips consistently outperform laptop chips these days. If you buy a phone and a laptop in late 16 , it's very possible that the phone has the more grunt.

I warned of this 5 years ago when Intel basically starting rebadging processors (similar perf, different name) and people told me noooo it's just that Intel got sooo powerful that have now hit a "wall", they continue by saying "everybody else will as well).

Of course I called their BS back then and by now we have travesties like this. Computers (that actually need the power) can routinely have lower *raw* performance than your phone.

Soon we'd have software that uses your phone's raw power to speed up your laptop. That's how bad laptops have become out of Intel's monopoly.

Apple ...you, are prepared to talk about the inadaquacy of 3.5 inch screens, now, but not through all the years they kept all their customers in denial. They are always last to the party, first to claim the credit, I would just like to know, how they keep people from the truth, maybe that phrase" I only know what I read" , nails it, you only read what the big "a" permits the media to print. Gsma's story on the German tech site who wouldn't tow the line,( google is you friend ) and a's response shows this in action, that article is gold, by virtue of its rarity. If Hitler would have had "a" in control of their propaganda, he would have won the war.
