I like the new Nokia's strategy, listening to the users and providing updates that's just cool :D
I can safely say now "Nokia is the best when it gets to support"
I wish every other company learn from Nokia.

Downloaded the Opera Mini 5.1 beta for Symbian today (released this week). It rocks!! (Much faster than previous Opera Mini/Nokia browser, and developed for Symbian, not in general Java)

Engineer Man, 28 Oct 2010You can say google & apple have a faster more intuitive... moresorry mr.engineerman i have some question which i always feel strange when i read bout symbian. which part that android and ios lack major other general purpose feature & functions which a proper OS should not be without??? plis do make it in more specific words. because i use to have symbian,ios and andro phones,so where the part that android and ios lack?
dont u think if they lack so much thing,there will be no dev want to make apps for them?
what the fuctionality symbian have and others dont???
because when i used my old 5800xm i fel that symbian have more diadvantages than other modern smartphone OSes, even winmo more capable to handle works than symbian.for example in RDM or VPN,it is pain to make it work in symbian but easily done using winmo or even just an ipod touch,or maybe it is they lacks of proper OS so they could do it more simple than symbian???
and "maybe text reflow"? and u called that other OSes lack of proper thing??
the facts are for today smartphone symbian lack so much UI experiece,uncapable apps,and lack supports from many internet bases provider.
yes it is so much easy to say just wait,if meego or symbian 4 coming and everything will be alright,but is not that simple anymore. other OS also growing and improve.
more people become more capable to using a smartphone as tools for works and make their live easier, not just call and text anymore.
if it just text and call plus gud camera,yes symbian still the king.
but when it comes to more demanding task it loose the titel.
just compare all the OS in your hand,and try it for a day or two than plis make ur specific comparison and please try to not using the promises that meego and sym^4 will makes everything better because when meego or sym^4 lauch the user of old symbian will have to buy a new handset. use today standart smartphone to compare please and make it specific which part symbian have more advantage and capable more that ios and android.
HDMI,USB on The Go and FM transmiter is not symbian plus as an OS it is hardware.so other OSes may have that features too someday,like that amoled screen on N8.
im not symbian or nokia hater, i wish sym^3 was more powerfull and level with android or ios, and it will be US as a customer whom gain the advantage, so never tolarate with something that not gud enough to use. when the fanboy do that the company will start sleeping and forget to bring new inovation and thats the real story happen to nokia and symbian fate today.

It's good to know that Nokia is working to improve the UI and web browser. So far, nothing in this video really impresses me. The main criticism is the browser's performance when loading complex web pages. I'll be impressed when I see that.
Loading up the home screen automatically is not a feature that interests me. When I start up my web browser, I want to see a blank page. There really is no web page that I want to see all the time when I start up a browser.

See, here's the deal. Those of us who bought an N8 knew we were going to get updates and upgrades to improve the software. We also knew we were getting the best hardware already.
So here we are getting a series of modular updgrades - Social yesterday, now news of the browser (and if they can do an overlay keyboard in that you can bet it'll come for general usage) - as promised which improves our device and takes away all the things that people moan about.
Meanwhile the trolls are stuck with phones that can't make calls reliably, are cheap and plasticky or that have battery lives of less than a day because those are hardware issues you can't do anythign about.
Who's laughing now, trolls? LOL!

Where's the Flash player? I would imagine it's exactly where it is on the current browser, fully functional and working already.

The one now on my N8 make me hard... I loving its pick zoom that Opera doesn't have .... but I love all the others Opera have that it doesn't :(

But this is all Nokia need to accomplish with Symbian. This isn't going to be much of an issue because they cover all other bases. But Apple & Android - they lack major other general purpose feature & functions which a proper OS should not be without & if they have implemented some, how late have they done it when symbian has had functionality covered for ages.
Symbian has everything else covered & only lacks in eye candy but it does do everything else because it doesn't lack the capabilitites that the other two OS still lack. Android still isn't a proper OS, neither is Apple.
Take a good look at Symbians actual potential, bring all that to the forefront with a new simple Intuitive UI which is quick & fast with some slightly faster hardware - no problem when you see that Symbian right now is optimized for slower processing & less ram. Plus the faster NAND memory becoming available for despatch to OS & programs plus using that for the virtual pool i.e. Virtual memory running on quick memory.
I think a lot of Apple & Android devs should actually take a second look at how much they still lack when they are put side by side of symbian which is very well accomplished in all the neccesassy areas of functiional & as capable as a full OS.

It's nice to see Nokia providing imrprovements & fixes so quickly. How about that! Beat that Android, Apple, BADA! ¬
So some Multi touch gestures such as side swiping & scrolling for home screen & browser have been rectified.
It won't be long before you see Nokia improving other web browser multi touch gestures like pinch to zoom may be add text reflow aswell.
Also this new imrprovement now makes web browser capable to use new types of input functions like the swype update that Nokia will soon make available.
It's so exciting. Some people have mentioned already in gsma's N8 forum that they are upset with N8. But it's a firs release & with many older Symbian phones this is common. It can only get better & better & even better than ever over S^1 S60V5.
For instance Nokia have already introduced some Internet radio features for some of their popular S40 devices.
Soon their will be some major upgrades to S^3's UI. They prob won't be that far away as we've been told. So their is no more eciting a time to purchase the S^3 devices. The |N8| will turn into an awesome device very soon with loads of pontential I bet.
Some people are more negative & aren't so hopeful for Symbian. Thety keep giving up & are sellnig their souls & they're privacy etc. etc.. to google, Android etc.. etc..
Just wait till S^3 evolves with the completely new UI architecture & when Meego becomes available. S^3/4 will be one awesome platform to own. QT makes everything app development wise so easy for any developer to resist no matter what they develope.

It is better than the last rubbish browesr. But it still isn't up to mark with IOS or Google browser. Even third party browsers like firefox mobile and opera mini seem smoother and more user friendly. In mobile web browsers, less is more.
