This phone it's not meant to take on the Note 7, it doesn't matter it has very similar price and specs, it's not it's purpose, and it's certainly not marketed as such. Therefore, HP doesn't care you, or anyone for that matter, don't want it because it doesn't have Android. It's a business phone, meant to be bought in batches, to replace both phone and PC, with the aid of application virtualization. It's meant to be secure, practical, and cut costs on IT mainteinance. They decided to use Windows 10, because its features allow them to effectively accomplish this purpose. If consumers want it, well, fantastic, but they're still not this phone's target market.

Humor me, if you will, this phone was released to the public, with a similar price and specs of the Note7. This phone was meant to take it on, and it just falls short because of its OS. I'd almost definitely take this over a Note7 if it ran Android.

But, bear in mind that this phone seeks to save you both the cost of getting a phone AND a computer for each employee. Not to mention that the PC capabilities of the phone are fully achieved through virtualization, which can be a lot cheaper to maintain when you have to manage a lot of devices.

He puts the mobile side on hold sure but he builds his empire on his strengths and then includes the mobile into it eventually. Everything from development tools to the ecosystem around all windows 10 devices is an insane challenge and it's the biggest thing MS has ever done. The holographic api and support for any oem that was to make vr/ar/mr and partnering with intel for developing hardware. The Wintel relationship is back hehe.

krystian, 06 Sep 2016The share isn't low because of the OS, it's low because of ... moreMS is an embarrassing company. They killed the Nokia and the Lumia and they will kill the WP platform soon. They will kill the continuum too. They killed the Here Maps, the MS Skype is worst for WP and they say will quit supporting it?. They took my 30GB of OneDrive which I deserved. They can't do anything right. Get ready for more disappointment from MS.
The WP was light years ahead of Android. WP7.5 was 20 times faster and more stable than any android of its day. But by the time it has evolved to 8.1 the speed advantage was not so great anymore, the stability started to suffer and most important the Store didn't evolve at all. They had 6 years to help the store grow and didn't do anything. MS has so many employees, they could have made all the apps in the store themselves, or just sponsor the software companies to build the apps. No they didn't do a thing. They killed the WP but will probably try to resurrect it 5 years from now, when they are on their deathbed. I am sure the leading people in MS are overpaid shortsighted blockheads.
I have 5 windows phones to support my claims. I am extremely disappointed by MS. Will live them for good and just buy crappy android phone, for my next phone.

Comments by Android users confirm their ignorance about windows OS. Windows OS is the best OS, really functional, no CRAP APPS, hardware optimizing OS, simple and really smooth interface, very useful home screen, far better customization, etc etc... Really few people could really distinguish a smart from a phone pretending to be high tech system android... Windows is the real OS for a SMART PHONE😊😃😄

Gibby, 06 Sep 2016...'useless features for the rest of the world'.. Are you ... moreThe share isn't low because of the OS, it's low because of MS. MS decided to just let their shares start falling apart. They have been allowing this to happen for a while. It was all a build up to writing off nokia and dismissing the staff. They don't wan to focus on mobile till they are ready. They are working on bigger things now. Future proofing. And Smartphones have sort of stagnated in the innovation department. Most are competing for small camera quality differences and even trying to add modules. Ms's continuum concept is really great. Most people who have tried it see massive potential. But it's up to them to realize that potential and make it as user friendly as possible. MS has always had strength in R&D and has come up with some of the most used tech, they just don't know how to implement it well for users. Apple is king of taking existing tech and putting it in the users hands.

Its possible the new strategy just are to put Windows apps in Android devices, like with the new Microsoft- Lenovo deal. And then HP site with a big pile of HP Elite X3 devices that nobody will buy.
