Fanboys be like-
Level 1 : Only few units are affected. Samsung is damn generous to replace so many units.
Reality : 70 % units are affected.
Level 2 : Chinese batteries are to be blamed not samsung.
Reality : Chinese batteries are fine. Samsung ones are crap.
Level 3 : We should appreciate samsung for accepting their fault. We are proud of Samsung.
Reality : Coming soon :D

Nobody wants windows phones. They are a failure. No sales .If Mword had never been invented, we'd all be happily using some android app, wWord, came out before android like apple and got a massive head start, but now there is competion, no windows/ no apple, gimme android in a Samsung Gnote, job done. Look here, battery problem..phone exchanged....nothing to see here...move on. So sorry that the rival phone manufacturers are whipping their Pr boys to death, night and day, generating negative Pr youtube video's , stories, filling every thread with themselves pretending to be members of the public supposedly grumbling, all in a desperate effort to stop Samsung sales.But....ahh, its just a battery problem...thats all, don't worry, you'll soon be busily back to sanitizìng the apple threads of every post that relagates the new iphone to its true light, that is if there were anything new to shine.

So possibly 70% Note7 could be affected

Will gladly do the exchange. Not even remotely considering anything else. A fantastic phone - will never be without a Note. Appreciate the response from Samsung. Please tell me which other manufacturer would spend a billion dollar to fix such a problem???

Guys I hate Samsung and their touch woz and their typical look and greasy metal. But, respect! I know of no other company who'd do this. Not even my favorite Sony dud this durimg z3+ if it's costing them 1 billion dollars. Still they'd do it without any restrictions.kudos to them and respect. That's all .

I have galaxy ace 2 with original samsung battery and im still using it even after 3,5 years, i dont say battery still lasts the same but it is very good compared. 35 note 7 burned is just a drop in a sea. But samsung still acted for this. It is better company than any other smartphone manufacturer, their services are the best.

if there was a Windows phone with a good stylus I would have ditched my Galaxy Notes. Microsoft World already has a drawing facility which makes it an excellent writing app compatible with most Corporate applications. The Note App in the galaxy phones should behave like Microsoft Word to make it useful for corporate applications.

To find out what model you have, just check the back of your device, or go to the Phone info part. If it says "manufactured in China," then you are safe. Otherwise, return the unit to the vendor.

A little odd. Sounds like the problem is inherent in the Samsung battery plant - that it cannot be (immediately) fixed which is why the batteries from that plant will not be used in the Note 7. Does that mean that the plant is shutdown? Or that the fix will take some time and the shutdown will only last until problem fixed? Or will batteries still be produced but just be directed to lesser valuable devices?

When apple did iphone 4 with faulty antenna and signal loss problems, they made a 20 euro silicon bumper to make you do not touch the antenna with fingers. At least they could offer this stupid bumper for free for every iphone 4 cusomer. But they didn't. Samsung managed now a problem with faulty accumulators with care and respect for customers. Kudos to Samsung. Anyone can go wrong, depend how you can solve the mistake. Like a child or like a king...

Hilarious. But not surprising. First the inferior A9 chip in last year's iPhones, now inferior explosive batteries. Samsung's quality has been in decline for a while now. Glad I moved on from their overpriced gimmicky flagships.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2016The difference is that they could've then just given people... moreThey figure whatever they are doing (not the exploding battery) with the new design and all is bringing them more profits than having the old one and that's why they went with it. Compare to losing that few against the horde that went to other phones, it's better for them. Honestly, big companies never care about customers, its all about money.

So it's of their own doing because it's of their own subsidiary. At 70% units made by Samsung SDI, I don't think the risk is only 24 per million
