Mind the fine print: iPhone 7 warranty doesn't cover liquid damage

08 September 2016
The iPhone 7 is water-resistant and that's a nice feature to have as it definitely gives you a peace of mind. However, reading the footnotes on the iPhone 7 specs page reveals that phone's warranty doesn't cover liquid damage.

Stop saying WATERPROOF! The phone is NOT waterproof! Water Resistant =/= water proof.

Even this phone is not waterproof.

The number of defective batteries in the Note 7 are less that 50 for a million. That makes about 0.005 percent chance of having a defective unit.

Feel free to enjoy your iDevice. I used to have some, but since the 5s, I have only Android devices.

So we've lost the Jack input for nothing? What's the point of an water-resistant phone IF the manufacturer says it will not cover water damage? Means that it is likely NOT very water-proof. Better get the Note 7, IP68, full warranty, USB-C AND Jack, whithout mentionning other improvements...

You cannot use them under water but how many will try. And if you submerge it you are suppose to let it dry completely before charging it or pressing buttons, but people Are retards gtfo

As much as I like to poke fun at aPple, this actually sounds quite fair.

When we carry a thin device like this in our pocket for a lengthy period, the small wobbling will tear on any sealing. And all the dirt will over time have a change to squeeze in and might break the sealing. All the temperature changes we apply to it could also help causing it. Just look at all the break tests, many devices will have the screen slip a tiny bit when force is applied to it.

If we want a device that is sturdy enough to stay 'waterproof' we would need a much more clumsy device than most phones and phablets are in 2016. So pick what you prefer.

I'd expect that if you (theoretically) only used it on your desk, the sealing would be fine for a long time...

Well i used to take underwater photos and videos with Samsung galaxy S5 almost everyday. It dosent have any kind of damage and i used it for 1 and half years.
It was and is an awesome phone to use but i always ran out of internal memory only 10.5 GB was available when i bought it so i upgraded to galaxy S6 as my primary device.still uses the s5 to take underwater photos and videos
Apple is cheating its costumers with waterproofing. They dont just disappear like that
