    "previous compacts which had same specs equal to flagship"
    so I think you can agree that Xperia X is not really a flagship (XZ is Sony's 2016 flagship) then the X compact cannot be a compact, it is a mini.

          Z3 = 3GB, Z3 Compact=2GB
          Z5 = 3GB, Z5 Compact=2GB

          You also have reinforced my point which was, as you have said, "previous compacts which had same specs equal to flagship". but this year the compact is know where = too the flagship XZ it is a comparible to a lesser device which actually ='s Mini. so not a true compact.

            $450? That sounds fair, you can get it for €399 on Amazon in Germany, though the black version €20-40 more. :-/

              Z1C , Z3C , Z5C didn't lack anything when comparing it directly to it's bigger flagship :

                        Tourettes Guy, 19 Sep 2016Lack of IP rating is meant to make the price of the phone l... moreAdditional point. You are raving about the 620 but then start promoting the XZ.... XZ has a 820 not a 620. wonder why Sony did that on the premium device if the 620 if the daddy of all processors, as you seem to be insinuating.
                        Also you said the price is lower cos of the lack if IP rating.
                        You may have a point but still does not make it a compact.
                        If it is a cheep device without flagship spec then is a Mini not a Compact.
                        many people have that view on this new "compact" that it is a compact in name only and should have been called a mini.
                        we expect better from Sony, but then again their marketing is very confused over the last few years so an expected error from them.

                          Tourettes Guy, 19 Sep 2016If specs are just your perspective when looking for a new d... moreWow that is a special kind of rant.
                          You asked what the poor specs were and I answered.
                          Not claiming the 620 is a bad processor its just not the flagship processor used by most flagship phones this year.
                          I did notice you ignored the point about the power efficiency.....
                          Simple fact, all opinions aside. Compact's previous to this year were flagship spec's with less Ram and smaller screen.
                          The Xperia X was not Sony's flagship this year, it was their premium mid range. (no OFFICIAL IP rating) the XZ seems to be the flagship release.
                          The X compact should have been the XZ with smaller screen not a x with smaller screen.
                          so this is a mini not a true compact.
                          We can debate the SOC 620 till the cows come home but it is kinda irreverent based on the FACT most flagships have used the 820 and the latest top end offering from Sony also uses it.
                          Also the FACT that the X and X compact do not have an official IP rating.
                          it may be unofficially waterproof but that is kinda irrelevant.
                          Compact = small flagship.
                          X compact does not = small flagship.

                            I'm just warning you: if you need to service your new Xperia, you have to ship the cell to the middle of nowhere, you'll get back after 2 months. Happened to me 3 times during warranty! Even more, Sony does not repair any Xperias out of warranty into the USA (but, you can go to Canada)! After very bad experiences with Xperias, I have just warm wishes for Sony but anywhere else than US.
                            BTW, I just got the Axon 7, I'm extremely happy. And, I don't own any Apple product. Cheers!

But now what? People are falling in love with the iPhone 7. Don't tell me that 23 megapixel rear camera isn't a spec for 2016.

                                AnonD-19330, 19 Sep 2016Current compact: Lack of IP rating. Lower spec processor ... moreLack of IP rating is meant to make the price of the phone lower. Considering the Xperia X, a non-waterproof device, survived underwater for 24hrs, this phone should also survive underwater like one.

                                And before you say that the SnapDragon 650 is a bad processor, let me tell you that the Xperia X uses this SoC, and with Sony's great optimization, the X did manage to beat most SnapDragon 820 devices. Even close to the speed of the iPhone as well. What's more? It even managed to beat the S7 Exynos in opening some apps. Given that, the XZ would probably kill all other flagship phones in 2016 and is expected to be as competent as the iPhone 7. Mind you, the XZ would beat the OnePlus 3 in speed
