The Android platform was born on this day three years ago, on 5 November 2007, and the first device based on the platform was introduced nearly one year later, on 22 October when the T-Mobile G1 saw daylight for the...

Adam, 06 Nov 2010 When apple releases updates every iphone user gets it !!!... more"When apple releases updates every iphone user gets it !!!! Do you see the huge difference here? But with android not every user gets Froyo, and even if they get it, it's full of bugs and problems"

--> true not all phones instantly get the update but thats not googles fault. thats the fault of the manufacturers. if htc can keep up with the updates, y cant the others? especially since most of them r larger companies. ok there are bugs but there will always be bugs. the more time they spend on it doesnt mean there will be less bugs. what usually happens when they r given more time is they add features that either u dont need or will hv bugs of their own. if ppl were afraid of bugs, the os wud nvr get new features. btw if samsung rly was afraid of all the bugs of android 2.2, y wud they make it the os for their tablet and release it while many other manufacturers r waiting for the next version of android for their tablets? they anounced the galaxy tab (and said it wud run android 2.2) before those articles u found were written. also the second article says that only the droid x had the bugs which were listed which means its probably a manufacturers implementation flaw rather than a flaw in the

"So in this case, I think the best os working well for most of the manufactures is 2.1, so unless they sort out 2.2 problems no need to be fancy and release 2.3 and then 3.0 !!"

--> ok ignore 2.2. 2.3 is said to hv a major ui revamp. they need to release honeycomb (3.0). this is the version that will work on android tablets. current android tablets either dont hv full access (or any access at all) to the android market. while those that hv access either hv low res screen for their size or the app doesnt cover the entire screen (there might be another app to enlarge app size on screens). but google said 2.2 and previous versions were nvr meant to run on tablets.

"Dude please understand we are not here to bash android, in fact we love android and we are android users not apple fanboys. All we are asking is that Google needs to give the phone manufactures a break! They need to slow down a little bit, otherwise we are the users that will receive buggy os's."

--> yh i know ur android users, im 2. perhaps i didnt explain it well in my last post. i want google to release this newer version bcos its the version it has a major ui revamp and soon will work on tablets. also nexus 2 is rumored on nov8. i agree the less bugs the better, but look how long it has taken sony ericsson to update to 2.1. its pathetic. htc which is a much smaller company added their sense ui to it and released it much sooner. i dont support the inefficiencies that some manufacturers hv.

thats just my opinion and i understand urs 2. but when every1 is repeating what the previous person said about updating too frequently its pointless.

[deleted post]its street name for 'coolness' sells them, after steve jobs tell them the iphone is the best, you can tell the punters coming in who fall for it,quoting tv ads also at time but god love their love them for being lead so easily. grand for sales ultimately, terrible for eventual complaints, but as the maunfacturers say,all these common complaints are within manufacturers specifications, you buy an iphone 4 you already know its flawed. Its nice to see their faces with that while someone buying a top android phone at the same time. Shortages of iphones are not due to demand but rather stock diverted to launches in new country markets, shortages causing major anger for lots of insurance screen breakages/faulty phone claims.....d'oh!

Android users are suckers who think Android is open to them, while Google just uses you as a cash cow to milk of information which they then sell to advertisers.

the speed at which android enhances the user experience is fantasic.Android is both present and future and its great that its open source and not tied to steve jobs waist like slave on a leash. Sure apple fans try to find things like oh your 100 euro donut phone doesn't do what your nexus one, desire or galaxy can do but android fans can easily see the stupidity in these claims. They can be happy after all as Steve Jobs loves them and promises all the faults will be fixed in future updates

To my surprise it got updated automatically to introduce new features. The update was pushed silently by google without myself even knowing about it! It now has "Auto update", "Update all" and much more same as in Froyo 2.2. And yes, I am still on Eclair 2.1.

We are in no hurry! These named versions could easily be replaced with the standalone patches or something, so that they could easily be installed without much of the hassle and manufacturer interventions. There must be some way!
