I knew it, I was waiting for this news. Since the new Nexus phone code name is "Sailfish and Marlin" I had strong doubt it being water resistance.

When I carry my Galaxy Note in my shirt pocket while biking I carry it in a plastic bag because if I don't then sweat from biking will make it misbehave in various ways most commonly it will turn on the display out of the blue wasting battery and at other times just turnoff. Protection against moisture is very welcome.

Let me tell you... You sounded like apple should own it to Samsung for waterproofing. Meanwhile even the Samsung is still trying to get it right. Yes S7 active is struggling in that aspect.
The Japanese were the first in IP rating(Not Sony specifically)
Nokia had first waterproof smartphone(Symbian 5500 if am not mistaken)
Motorola had first Waterproof Android
Sony then came along(Still on android but Flagship this time)
So if you knew this history you wouldn't make that comment. Sadly enough Samsung has just 4 waterproof phones...

Xperia V was waterproof before that nonsense S5 u mentioned. And don't fall for that "Active" model crap bcos it's just the same phone with a factory fitted rugged casing.
Sony perfected waterproofing so much that they added it on mid range devices. Even the little boy Xperia M2 Aqua water IP rated. Instead making research you're trying to prove a point. How many waterproof phone are there in Samsung and Sony.
To you Samsung worshipers, waterproofing is still special.
