I think you have a problem with numbers if you're disregarding the Iphone 4 sales. Typical Apple hater. Ignoring the facts.

roboplodda, 13 Nov 2010kind of a luddite approach to looking at things there mate,... moreNice try at a car comparison and a total fail. Cars should give you the perfect example on how engine size and horsepower do not really tell anything. I bet you drive a pickup with huge engine that can't actually handle fast speeds, topples on tight curves, has a huge tank that is still empty in 200 miles and doesn't survive 100 meters offroad.
If you want to compare real performance, try for example NFS Shift, since it is available to Android, iPhone and N8.
Why does it run and look the same on iPhone and N8? Why does the Android version look worse and lag more?
N8 has great GPU and OS whose main design point was cpu, memory efficiency and battery efficiency. It makes all the difference.

nyap, 13 Nov 2010i think symbian is the best
1. dont need 1 ghz processor... morekind of a luddite approach to looking at things there mate, it is like saying a prius is a better car then a veyreon , oh i dont need a 16 litre engine because my car can go at fifty miles an hour not two hundred and fifty, the reason the androids and even the apples have 1ghz procs and increasing, is because people want to be able to do more, so the technology evolves.
the n8 and symbian is a nice try but it would have great 2 gens ago, nokias problem is not looking far enough ahead they are trying to tread water and try to regain parity, not get the lead back, in the end this is what will kill them.
guess you will always get die hards who think one feature will make a phone great, unfortunately in the n8's case a great camera doesnt make a great phone

i think symbian is the best
1. dont need 1 ghz processor... the symbian is very light so 600 mhz symbian device is same with 1 ghz android phone
2. more little cpu speed means better battery performance and saving energy
3. if processor just use 600mhz... it means save money than use 1ghz
i've just use symbian,android,winmo,and i os,
only symbian can make an app direct on the phone.so its like a PC on your pocket.
i think the problem just user interface....symbian not really ready for touch screen war...and maybe need a lot time for fix this.
just look at non touchsreen smartphone.... symbian is the king!

There is nothing special about these tests, these are the standard reliability and stress tests that all phone makers subject their products to. I just wish the people who wrote this article has done their homework and at least mentioned this in passing. It sounds as if Nokia is the only manufacturer doing these tests. Personally, having owned many brands and also having worked on phone components, my vote still goes to Motorola in terms on reliability and robustness

I see they sped up the video so that the OS looks faster. No lag there HAHAHAHAHA.
And where's the video showing some idiot dropping the N8 onto concrete a number of times like they did with the iphone?
Hmm, oddly missing. The N8 is simply not as popular XD

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2010could u explain hows that 'PRACTICALLY' possible??a hard re... moreIt is possible for the phone's power button to be pressed for 10+ seconds in a bag. Will it ever happen? most likely not. Just like it's possible to break both the screen and the back side of the iPhone 4 in a bag if one were to put it flat in a backpack under an old/heavy laptop and drop the bag. Will that happen? I highly doubt it.
Back to the article though, it's nice to see Nokia cares enough to put their phones through such tests! Those of you saying the phone slides through the whole thing, watch carefully: there's a ledge so it slides on the ledge and drops the rest of the way... Granted, one of those drops isn't as bad as one drop on the sidewalk.

Anodized aluminum can be nearly as hard as diamond under the right anodizing process.
So stop lying about scratches
