A twelve megapix... morehaha, nice one dude I'd forgot about Satio. If only SE gave two s***ts about its customers and supported its devices. They're getting a *little* better now, but really it's a shame considering how nice their machines can be.

i dropped my N8 and it refused to come on. No physical damage, but just wouldn't switch on. Sent it back to the Nokia priority partner and its now been 20 days and there's no trace of my phone as yet. Pathetic service from Nokia India - they did not even replace it with another N8. What's the point of all these tests if it simply doesn't switch on and after sales is so poor.

If you pay attention, you'll find I'm one of the strongest s60/Sym^3 advocates around these parts. However there is no denying that Nokia has been behind the 8-ball in their touch interfaces. This may change with Sym^3, especially with their upcoming updates which I am keen to see.
In any case you're either slow on the uptake, posting with some kind of agenda or trolling. Please grow up.

No matter what you fanboys say, your favourite companies don't have the skill to match Nokia in technology so anything Nokia makes is years ahead of competition.

nano, 12 Nov 2010that was not a drop test.. it is a sliding test.. with that... more(copy-pasted from an earlier post)
If you look carefully when the tester opens the boxes (0:22-25) there is a platform inside the boxes themselves, which prevents the phone from sliding more than a few inches before it drops.
As for the materials the box is made of - you seriously think steel has that much "give"? It's not a heavy device that would force the steel to "give" (as compared to a hammer or bowling ball).
Also don't forget the test was for two whole minutes, and was done repeatedly. I reckon if you counted every time I've dropped any handset, it wouldn't be that many times! :--D
No single test can cover all possible drop situations, but once again: show me any other handset being subjected to the same test and I'll be very interested in the result. I don't doubt that other handsets are as tough, but this has been quite a good demonstration.

that was not a drop test.. it is a sliding test.. with that slow rotating motion, the phone inside will just slide slowly and not dropping.. and the hardness of the surface of that box will not be as tough as a concrete floor.. that test was not even showing half of the real action when you drop your phone directly from your palm to the concrete floor. that test was just used to fool somebody..

Wh... moreI did not know about this - hrm. You may have a point there. We did get the recent Wave review, but it's true that we just don't see a lot in the way of mid-low-end phones from the other manufacturers.
There could be perfectly legitimate reasons for this of course: maybe it's just harder for the GSMA guys to get their hands on devices ultimately confined to AsiaPac or the US. But it would be nice to get an explanation.

In the days of N73, people bought it due to the camera. people bought N76 because it was the top of the line "flip phone" by the company, and I know many bought the 6-series just to make / receive calls SMS only.

Then again Symbian users are cheapskates who'll get free Apps from anywhere, including Trojan laden ones like the Chinese example.

Then all of the sudden the almighty brand released dozens of touchscreen phones. Initially also denied the need for capacitive screen but now...all these top line models have capacitive screens.

I have had few phones of all brands, last 2 happened to be Nokia for the only reason I wanted a smartphone with a real GPS and voice guidance, 6110 navi and n97mini, they are quite sturdy and reliable.
But the OS of the n97mini feels so obsolete compared to Android and iOS... I went yesterday in a shop to finally handle the N8 with Symbian 3 and... it feels exactly the same, NOTHING has changed, my next phone will be Android, they update the OS 2-3 times a year, compared to once a year apple and eons of Nokia.
Plus I really dont understand Nokia plans: they ship a phone, N900, first and last with Maemo then few Symbian 3 that we already know it will die when MeeGo will be released??? a bit twisted...
I look at Motorola and Sony-Er., hope Nokia is not ending up the same way...(not that I actually really care much though!)
