I completely don't agree on these numbers. Samsung UAE is not allowing for the full refund (for many consumers - I say many asking this) or not even allowing taking an S7/ S7 edge as a replacement. It is by force that all the Note 7 (unfortunate buyers) users go ahead with Note 7 only. This is going to create a disloyalty for the brand in future (At least my next phone might not be Samsung).

People make it sound like it's already obsolete just because the newest version is already out. In practical usage, having the latest isn't necessarily an advantage. Marshmallow is plenty capable of quality performance.
