Storage is fine since you get unlimited Google Photos backup at original resolution and even though the battery is a tad bit lower it'll have good battery life thanks to its optimized software.

Nothing surprising, the rumors turned out to be 100% correct. I think the best part is that both Pixel phones get unlimited Photos storage at full resolution, awesome. And I love the fact that Really Blue is exclusive to the US, Google knows its roots very well lol

Meh, a plus phone and an XL plus phone. This is the same mistake Microsoft made with the 950. Most phone users outside the US don't have ogre hands, it needs to be sub 5" to use one handed. The Lumia 920 and Xperia compacts were great examples of regular sized phones with great specs.

From what I've seen it's more like a standard Android or a reference model come with unskined software. Besides Nexus phones were designed by OEMs (AFAIK) by definition of nexus programme.
Pixel is different.. it's Big-G's take of ideal phone to stack up against iPhone or Galaxy, and designed by Google from the ground up, and it does comes with frills and skins... which is totally unNexus-sy
Anyway that's a marketing people's thing at the end of the day.. They just want to show people off their brand-new products with refreshing touch
