Nokia E7 might be delayed until January 2011, costs 700 euro?

24 November, 2010
Two weeks ago Nokia has reported the QWERTY slider E7 will launch in December. But a popular online retailer lists the E7 for January 2011 availability on a quite hefty price. Despite Nokia's Twitter...

A couple of things:

1) This is Expansys, not Nokia. Expansys always exaggerate prices.
2) I don't expect the E7 until after the first wave of UI enhancements are ready. This will be early (Feb) 2011.

"Nokia E7 might be delayed..." Last time the Reuters said that Nokia had confirmed it will delays the N8 delivery. What happened? Nothing, it was delivered on time. Ok, the company stock price went down, -15%.

Some sources claim that the N8 had 5 million pre-orders and it has sold already 10 million while demand is 200 000/day. Three factories are making N8s in full steam 24/7. Nokia never confirm any numbers how many phones are made, but merchants have said that this phone demand has been "all time high."

Maybe they want to make all the ordered N8/C7/C6-01 ready for the Christmas. All the pre-ordered business phones like E7 can wait until December.

x2, 24 Nov 2010HTC sense got remote sim access, android on HTC is much better. Sure, have you tested how good it is? How about encrypted memory? Nokia and RIM have been doing this for years. With Android this is still a hack on top of the base OS.

How well can you actually lock down an Android device? What if you don't want half of your stuff pinged through Google? Can you make certain the users don't download random 3rd party apps that will steal your data?

I certainly wouldn't trust an Android or iPhone on a secure office network.

The x6 is still in demand i have 2 on order and it seems they are putting more production into n8 than x6..The world cannot cope and has short supplies of the super amoled as well ..

Well i think all this is bullpoo, the world is not short of anything its all to do with cost,,no proper company in todays climate is going to open up new factorys to meet the demand thats the problem and android mess is lack of investment again due to money..

These companys ar not thick who in their right mind is going to invest heavily in manufacturing when economy is on its way down.Thats why super amoled my x6 nokias e7 an android roll out is slow,,ITS MONEY

This is meant to compete with the likes of BB Torch. It will have things like remote SIM access profiles, fully crypted memory (hence the no SD), Notes and Exchange support.

In my humble opinion Torch doesn't stand a chance :)

I'm pretty sure this is just a guess by a retailer, both on date and on price. Of course if they allow preorders and haven't received official price yet they will make sure they aren't selling at a loss.

There are couple points for the delay. N8 seems to be selling really well and even with 3 different factories making them, they can't keep up with the demand. Since E7, C7, C6-01 and N8 use lot of the same components it might not be a good idea to launch a device they can't deliver in sufficient amounts.

It might also be good idea to launch E7 together with the new S^3 update so people can stop complaining about the browser :)

This price has been on Expansys Webpage for about two months now. Has little to do with the real price as they will drop it as soon as other retailers get hold of it.
