No, the Xiaomi Mi Mix doesn't actually have a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio

The phone looks ugly and also impractical. It needs to have both top and bottom bezels. Not to big, of course, but they need to be there.

JMTM, 27 Oct 2016You drop it... its done
This design is nothing new, Sharp ... morethe reason is they don't know if people would buy it or not.
with gorilla glass 5 it won't die by falling that easy.
i don't know about the screen protection yet just an example.

Definitely the Xiaomi Mi Mix is an example for all companies/brands. And again compliments to Xiaomi (& sharp) for this innovative and great achievement! The others must follow as soon as possible.

Or ... you know. Just compare the screen size (6.4 inches, 17:9) to the profile of the phone (158.8mm x 81.9mm) and you get the real ratio which is 84%.
Hardly rocket science. A simple calculations (you can find calculators on the net). No need to compare images or -of course- believe the company. Just use the data given.
BTW 84% is a full 4% *more* than anything any other achieved. That is extremely impressive... 91% is impossible with current tech anyway... (so it was an obvious lie)

Geez doesn't anyone here know how to use CAD?
If you take the total front face dimensions, 158.8mm x 7.9mm, add a 6.4" screen (which is 162.6mm diagonal) and estimate 1.5mm bezels the total surface area is 13,005.7 square mm while the 6.4" screen surface area is 11,217.6 square mm which will calculate out to a 86.25% screen-to-body ratio.
Interesting on my model if you remove the 1.5mm bezels altogether it works out to 90.48% which makes me think this is how Xiaomi got their number.

Romie Lee, 27 Oct 2016I like the idea of bezel-less phone and I love it! But they... moreThis is not as easy as you think as the Bottom probably houses the connectors for the display.
Also if you have "only Display" it needs to be way thicker to support the 3.5mm audio port and the usb as these have a pretty large housing.
On the side note its also discomforting to hold a phone that has no border on the bottom as you need to reach way down with your thumb to reach the onscreen controls.
Just something to think about.

I like the idea of bezel-less phone and I love it! But they should have keep the top bezel for balance appeal... I mean, If they could get rid the top bezel they should have get rid the bottom bezel as well. They should make it 100% bezel-less phone or if they can't able to rid the top or the bottom for sensors, buttons, speaker grill together just keep the top bezel as well. that's why I love my S6 edge but if we talk only about flats screen then they should look for samsung's design and make it flat or something like that. I like the side bezel-less phones but I like more the bezel-less side-by-side. This one looks really a bit disappointment due to bottom bezel.

What was the meaning of this post. If they used a image which shows a bit smaller bezels, it doesn't mean they counted stb ratio from that photo.

You measured the active pixels of the screen, but if you look closely the bezel is correct and the rest of the black edge is actual screen (glass). The render is wrong because it's showing all the glass to have active pixels.

The curved glass and nearly no bezels is a beauty to behold. But a pain in the butt to operate on a daily basis. Unless they come up with really great palm rejections for the screen to prevent accidental taps, then I will never get a curved screen phone or one that has almost no bezels for that matter.

Unfortunately such phone is not aesthetically perfect. If you look at Samsung S7 or Apple iPhone or Sony Xperia, there must be (an equal) top bezel to make it look symmetrical. The side bezel is definitely out of question, i specifically talking about the top and bottom ones.

Ratio doesn't matter, this this is impractical. I have a phone with normal bezels (Moto G2) and I still trigger edge-screen actions by mistake when simply trying to do things like putting the phone away without turning off the screen first. You're going to see a lot of these with those bezels.
Fwiw, the design looks nice, maybe ti's the software that needs to change.
