During that time, running Froyo 2.2.1 on my SGS happily despite reports that "SGS don't even have Froyo" (mind you, there's no more recent than 2.2.1, 2.3 is not released). Fastest phone I've ever seen, excellent screen too. The only competitor is the iPhone4, which is better in some areas, worse in others, arguable in some.

At the end of day, like most forums on the internet there is here no valuable information, no valuable opinion, just a diarrhea of "my phone from company xxzz is better than urs and will always be and if ur not with me u should die! /blind fold on"

It's upgradeable to the later iOS and doing ok for the majority of game on the market except a few graphic hoe game like infinity blade. So there's goes your theory of iPhone 4 not getting update 2 years later.

Neogeo, 10 Dec 2010If buying a new handset every two years seem too much for y... moreThanks for proving my point while at the same time trying to refute it. The reason why you are still able to use your 3GS and be reasonably happy with it is because Apple does to great extent offer update support for it... because the 3GS still has capable hardware... because it's still a desirable phone... because you probably signed a 3-year to get it.

What Apple does is offer good software support after purchase. That's a model the industry should follow, but doesn't because the other company's phones aren't in demand like Apple's are (save for maybe the droids).

The Galaxy S is not seeing better technology pass it by. It's been out for 6 months and is still the most powerful smartphone on the planet (and that's not going to change when the Nexus S releases). That's why I bought it, and that's why I have every right to expect at least a handful of android updates for it before it becomes APP STORE OBSOLETE, as 1.5 and 1.6 pretty much are now.

Then son, you need to work harder in RL instead of wasting your time here. Most people sign up for new contact every two years. I'm using a 3GS now which is a year plus device and I can still run every game/apps in the market. Can you said the same for your 1 years plus Android device that running on a same 600 mhz CPU? Just look at HTC Hero, the manufacturer already abandon it and it had not even make it past two years.

I know that and in two years I bet the iPhone 4G will not have anymore OS updates as it is now for the first two versions of the iPhone !

"Do your homework, go check out Android handset and see how outdated they are now."
What do you mean by outdated? If you talk about hardware I think the last Android phones are at least equivalent to the last iPhone. Why do you want to compare the last iPhone to the first Android phones?

"Look at the number of Android device getting push out every year. Do you honestly think the manufacturer would care about one out of 1x devices they sold last year?"
Do you think all of these devices completely are different? Let's look at HTC or Samsung Android phones. You can find many versions of the same phones with a small difference of hardware or design. Nothing that prevents the manufacturers to upgrade their phones if they want it ! Think a little bit about people who buy an Android smartphone. If one manufacturer offers upgrades for 2 years and another one doesn't provide updates, what do you think people will do? They will not buy the second one. The best example is SE with the XPERIA line. They made a big mistake and now people who has bought one of those phones don't want to buy SE anymore. Don't be so simple-minded, please because marketing is something more complicated than what you know.

By the way, you confirm that the iPhone is not updated more than 2 years when you say the old iPhones don't have the last iOS. And 2-years support is exactly what SE announced for the xperia x10 or what HTC has made up to now for their phones (I am not talking the G1 which was an experiment).

And just to make things more tricky, android is updated more than any other os. Problems are to be expected. Its a mixture of fast paced progress and manufactors unable to keep up with the progress.

And by the way, if Android 3.0 comes out, it does not mean your Android 2.2/2.3 will stop functioning.

You all realize that most consumers will not even bother updating their OS. It's just you people who hangout in tech forums and blogs.
