Anonymous, 09 Dec 2010and yet 5800 still stinks with all those so called softwar... moream not comparing devices here .. am comparing post support for platforms between manufucturers nokia still update their firmwares even for a 3 years old phone !
the only main disadv. for samsung is their support ...
u buy a samsung phone then after a week boooooooommm 5 new handsets on board leaving u behind with no care ...
had a bad experience with samsung when no updates from the old Omnia i900 till the samsung jet ,pixon12,...capatative ...etc
and god knows what gonna happen with the Wave ! ---they own Bada i think-----
still Apple dominates cuz they own their OS side by side with Nokia

I agree with all you guys. Its the first time that I actually thought someone else is better than nokia, and got the galaxy.its rediculus to be even talking whether we' re gona get the upgrade on our phone and not just get it, no matter where on the planet we live. no customer service and support means no customers. and going back to nokia is easy....

like there is a big difference between the galaxy s and nexus s, hardware wise. The thing is that software guys samsung hired are as lazy as they can be. kies sucks, touchwizz sucks and so on.

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2010and yet 5800 still stinks with all those so called softwar... moreNokia does things so much better. Part of the reason is probably that they manage their own platform.
If you really think all the 5800 updates are bug fixes, I feel sorry for you. The updates to OVI maps alone could be called significant.

It's Basically a business trick. Samsung wants you to buy the Nexus S since it has V2.3 else people will wait for upgrade to v2.3 for the Galaxy S.

samsung please if nexus s is getting the 2.3 upgrade or i mean start with it then the requirement list is already fulfilled unless it requires an 8 megapixel camera and crappy video
oh and the upgrade should be easy because both devices have exact same hardware i think
i hope the guys at xda can port nexus s firmwares to sgs which should be easy

Yes, it’s really irritating, I’m still waiting Froyo for my Galaxy S Captivate… if I don’t get the official upgrade by the end of December I’ll install Cognition ROM. Probably, modder’s ROMs will be the only way Galaxy S owners will ever taste Gingerbread.
Samsung needs to sell the down-graded Galaxy S version (Nexus S) and the only attractiveness it has is Gingerbread, so I doubt Samsung will upgrade the Galaxy S to 2.3 anytime soon.
Samsung, HTC, etc, need to develop smartphones using vanilla Android so the upgrade process be more straight forward. We don’t need colorful custom icons and stupid bloatware. Google should establish some rules and make manufacturers support the OS at least 1 year.
Bottom line, Samsung's customer service just sucks.
