I'm glad and not surprised. Google is such an innovator and with a great culture. Most of us use them everyday for free. Thanks google.
Pixel clean underrated elegance is world class. No question about that. My mate just got one and it's the best I have had the pleasure of using. On Skype, the image to the receiver was clearer than our corporate media.
As for the small glass component on the back. Aesthetically, nice touch rather than just plain back. I just don't get it nor care that some say ugly. Other than troll, it's a personal thing. Google do many things great. So much to like on Pixel after seeing the live launch. Gets my vote.

The S7 Edge is locked down like crazy on Verizon. There are very few phones that you can get with unlockable bootloaders that work on Verizon. OnePlus? Nope!
The S7 Edge was a really great phone don't get me wrong, but I wanted root and wanted the freedom to flash firmware's. Samsung can't seem to deliver that without exploits. This is why Google's phones will always be superior for hardcore Android fans.

Well of course it's going to do better since 1 it's actually sold by Verizon and 2, both Google and Verizon are spending more on ads. Still grossly overpriced for what you get.

Glad to hear that! The Pixel XL is an awesome device and a great Note7 replacement, but it would be an even better replacement if it wouldn't be that expensive.

I'm not surprised, we are living the idiocracy. If you want a phone to sell well, overprice it extremely and people will be lining up to spend their money, feeling they own something special, "premium".
We even had a joke here: Tho crooks meet. One brags: Look at my new iPhone, i paid $1000 for it. The other one laughs at him: You fool, you can find it for $1500 in some shops.
