Nokia N900 gets a Gingerbread port, Nexus One stares in disbelief

24 December, 2010
Add the Nokia N900 to the short list of devices running the latest iteration of the Android OS – 2.3 Gingerbread. The last of the Maemo kind just got an unofficial ROM that, while not perfectly stable, proves that a...

as an experienced developer, who worked first on symbian, then on android too, i can say that maemoOS is the future, for only one significant reason:

it is a full powered linux based OS, and if you don't know what that means in terms of potential it gives to devs, look it up. :)

android will rule the market for maybe a year or 2 maybe, but the maemo will take over after that if android doesn't change it's limitations and the huge part of the platform.

you probably think that i just forgot to mention iOS, well, to be honest there isn't much to mention after all.

happy xmas friends

Agree or not, we know all that Nokia build powerful devices like N8 and N900 for exemple!!!
N900 running Gingerbread! This is very owesome! And some Android devices with same hardwares like this phone can't run Gingerbread LOL!
NOKIA POWER! and the rest is COMIN' soon...

simple as that , it gave me the best offer on the market when I bought it.
it's the best Camera Phone till now ... as I said Amoled is good may be not like S.Amoled but fair enough. HDMI output , + Free GPS and Ovi Maps etc

the phones you mentioned would have required me to wait too long to get them while I was in bad need of new cell phone ...

I promise to buy the better one when it's released (no one knows when)

I looked up the 14MP and the 1080p

ALTEK LEO 14MP ANDROID PHONE , I wouldn't try to buy from a company that is not very famous or recognized I wouldn't be able to find good retailers to give me post-selling services. so if anything went wrong, It can't be fixed and I'm F***ed up.

the other phone with 1080p , to be frank the Video recording is like 5% of my Camera Usage ... also the 1080 is going to squeeze my memory imagine that 1 minute video on 720p makes 50 something megabytes so the 1080 would be like 90 or 100 megapytes per minute ,,, so a simple video with 10 minutes length would take longer time to copy it, bigger space to save it,

on my screen with is 32" inch ,,, I didn't notice Huge difference between 1080 and 720 ,,, may be it was the screen or my eye :)

any way ,,, the main reason was just as I said ,,, I wasn't having the luxury of time to wait for another device to be released I waited months for the N8 ,,, but I will consider a better one when it is going to be released
                        thank you for your response

Symbian isn't too ba, 25 Dec 2010Symbian isn't too bad, but The Android is by far better Ope... morethen why u bough phone with Symbain OS ??? if u think Nokia make quality phones u are wrong , believe me i saw that N8 is dying around the globe . if u bough cause N8 have good camera i can tell u N8 make very bad videos without flash + only 25fps . after all N8 have low screen resolution . CPU is small same as RAM .

today ANDROID phones can record 1080 P and u can find ANDROID PHONES 14MP . everything what i said plz Google it before u answer to me .

Google is taking over the world . is always nice to be together with WINNERS . even u everyday open Google and Youtube . which means u support them :)

Symbian isn't too bad, but The Android is by far better Operating system. with the features of the nokia and the Nicer operating system it will be best .

I have N8 it's good and I've very satisfied with it so far, some problems on the way from time to time ( not repeatedly at all ) but everybody knows that we are all waiting the new firmware to remove all the problems etc

I wish I can have Foryo or Gingerbread , think about it ... I'll be having a very nice Camera it's not Canon 18MP DslR but very good performer, nice display not S.Amoled but fair enough :) , Nice multitasking may be not the best ( I didn't try many others ) but very satisfying, all of this will be combined with the Android system will be WOW

Yes I suppored the Symbian, because it's not this bad, but I've never said it's better than android, now if there is an opportunity to get Nokia features with Android so who can offer me a better deal lol
at least not right now ...
