Not just "a", everybody made at least (half) a dozen touchscreen phones before iphone, except the almighty brand, who was deemed to be the LEADER in the industry and didn't even know how to make a good one.
It made 2 as I remember: 7700/7710, I only saw one of them once...not even sure if the other ever got released.
"it didn't do well and it was expensive to make so they went back to hardkey phones until the technology was more developed and cheaper"
It was expensive to make the 8/9 series, so why the almighty brand made so many of them? (and we all know the fact both series are dead...)

As symbian is leading OS thats why we create enthusiasm among people.
As i am a developer,release of QT by nokia is now very easy to write games,app better than gingerbird.
Result shift of developer from android to symbian QT.
Still 10 year old symbian is highly impressive .hats off to nokia.
