Cant wait for a nokia comeback with android flavor. Hopefully they have a high end business phone. Use to luv the e72, so they have something in the pipeline of e72 successor.

This far, too me, there is a suprising amount of votes for Affordable.
In todays competition, they can't make phones more affordable than the most affordable phones out there.
Xiaomi, says they are not making money on their phones.
Huawei prorably has slim margins as well.

Remember, back in the days, the affordable option was always missing something. It either was wifi or 3G, or gps, or...
Nowadays people don't want phones like that. So money can't be saved in the same way.

Nokia could not survive in the affordable strategy. If they were selling hundreds and hundreds of million devices again, sure there could be a chance that they could use the large numbers of components ordered to bring down prices. But it would still be hard to imagine that it would be enough to take on Xiaomi and other brands, that are willing to live without margins on their devices.

Nokia's dead if they don't adapt customized android. No one would buy a nokia with featureless vanilla android.

i still have my n8 that i preordered..still working without any probs...anyway..started to comment because the poll is not what i want..i want it to be indestructible, value for money and with a crazy design, and still have the pureview tech..only problem is, nokia is not known for making the slimmest of phones..not that i mind, the regular iphone or droid is thick enough after you add an otterbox, i'd rather use the phone alone, thick as a brick though it may be

I think they will combine all, except Maemo, that is gone, sadly.

Nokia has to come out with something special. If they can bring back their legendary camera (which is doubtful, since Nokia is not involve in making phone), N8 like build quality and something new they might see the success. The competition is fierce.

8910/i was the most iconic phone. Classy, stylish and unforgettable.

I felt like Nokia was at its design pinnacle with the N8 & N9. I would go absolutely bonkers over a classic Nokia level Polycarb cross between the two with the speakers of the 5800.

this is the first time I cant pick one option I would like the old Nokia style everything-in-one.

But alas GSMA its the age of 'rounded rectangles, that we are living in. It'll be difficult to be creative. Note7 is (was?) the best designs in this form till now. Nokia really needs a strong creative team to come up with a high concept phone. But that'll take time. Till that time I guess we gotta live with the D1C whatever.
BTW I have some high concept original (phone designs with me, if Nokia (or anyone else) wants to see they can DM me on twitter @staryker)

And how on earth could you people not mention the Communicators in the article!!!

The success in the Android market seems to be flagship led. The best flagship phones seem to create a halo for the manufacturer, making them popular. Samsung did this with their Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines.

The Chinese manufacturers seem to be understanding this, focusing on incredible products like the Xiaomi Mi Mix which in reality is extremely limited in numbers.

Nokia needs to bring a flagship phone to market, with strong credentials in performance, build, design, and camera performance, plus one or two features that give it an 'edge'. The opportunity here could of course be their camera performance which they have had success in the past, plus the nostalgia value that they still have. A re-interpretation of a Nokia classic would be popular.

Snake....snake... games, and the venerable flashlight. Then comes the xpress music. So much but what I really want is that nokia can create more innovation. Maybe a dot matrix android phone anyone.
