Surprisingly a couple days after this Samsung started sending out official Froyo updates to its NON US Galaxy S. Coincidence? Highly not. Why is it that Samsung made no mention of progress on these updates yet they keep spreading news about how their Vibrant 4G, Galaxy Ace, and Suit will be available with froyo? The Vibrant 4G is basically a Vibrant with the added front facing camera, yet it is being released February with froyo and touch wiz? Something that Samsung has been so quiet about for their current customers? Once the CALS starts picking up momentum you can bet that I will be on board to get a cut on this.

install darky's rom ver 8.0 if you want to see what the galaxy s is truly capable of. my phone is butter smooth now. you don't even have to install a lagfix it has one built in if you choose to enable it. not that you have it has no lag stock.

I got this update via Kies in the UK before Xmas... Better support for Exchange email and no need to use any lag fixes anymore!

While HTC manages to release updates pretty quick. You do know HTC has released 2.2 for most of their devices that is able to get it already right? Droid devices from Motorola has already gotten 2.2 as well. How do you explain that then? How would you explain samsungs Vibrant 4G(Galaxy S with HSPA+ and front facing camera) running 2.2 froyo and even the Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Suit(lower end devices) running froyo then? The Vibrant 4G has a release date of February by the way.

Ive gotta say, looking inot the source material behind the lawsuite, it seems that if that managed to reach court the ripples would be severe, as the entire android system would be put under the microscope. It would be interesting to see just how dificult it is for the different manufacters and carriers to update the devices.

Its not Samsung that are slow to release the update.... they have to wait for your network carrier to complete full testing and add thier firmware and they always take ages .......... only once the network releases it back to Samsung can they release an update.

Kinda funny how Samsung denies all these rumors and their froyo update is just becoming available after news of facing a class action law suit huh? Right samsung, right... I'd rather buy a motorola now after the bad taste left by Samsung. At least with motorola they announce their updates on their website and don't hold it and release it after being threatened by a class action law suit.

The Froyo Update is Now officially available through Kies in India too.
Just updated my Galaxy S from 2.1 to Froyo a couple of weeks ago.

Sometimes OS updates takes a long time from cdma phones is because each carrier have sdk kit to the manufactures. Take that into account as well. Its not really fragmentation but still take a while.
