This holiday season was not that happy for Nokia, nor was the year

27 January, 2011
Nokia has had a tough 2010, which proved worse than even the recession-bound 2009. The phones volumes and their prices have fallen but Nokia estimates it has taken the lead in the QWERTY...

The Nokia haters are like this: "Please Nokia, you already ruled the mobile market for too much time, please let Android be the king now."
Who know, maybe Android will really be the new king, as soon as Nokia joins it. (:

And the plastic used in Nokia phones, that you say is low quality and cheap is very durable. I have had 9 Nokia phones and though some of the oldest don't work but the plastic is still flexible and unbreakable to a certain limit.(dropped from 2 floors of a building, approx. 22-24 feet) and you pick up the phone, put in the battery and cover and it turns on and works perfectly. This is the quality of a Nokia phone. But can't say the same about N8. It's metal can bend permanently. But 5230 survived 11 feet.
And I bet no other phone can survive such drops. But there are some exceptions.

[deleted post]That plastic brick is very durable. And I like heavy things. Atleast it should feel like you are holding a phone not paper.
And I meant that it has sharp corners or edges. Not round like most. They look like ladies' phones.

hey guys at Nokia, I hope you're reading this, because if you're not going to make your apps work offline, then I'll be forced to switch to a different brand when my phone replacement is due.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2011"Give me a reason why they don't praise Nokia." ... moreI've used X6. It's design is good and sharp. Symbian os dosen't need a very fast processor and large memory and so does its apps. Even simple things like double tap on icons are made big issues.
Symbian's simplicity is what you don't like.
But Nokia will never use Symbian on Nseries again.

From the beginning Nokia have good market in Asia, europe and middle east but lost market in North america.
Nokia have good market in second's sales in Asia n Middle east.

Nokia should fast enough to respond market needs. If Nokia want to conquer smartphone market now they should launch Meego based phones. I hope they can fight with android and iphone.

But yet the S^3 is very different from X6's Symbian. Visually they aren't but the expierience... A whole generation gap.

N8 does have its shortcomings, but these are with S^3 and will be fixed via updates. The hardware and build quality is immaculate.

I agree that Android and iOS are easier to use and that is why they enjoy more success. However I would sacrifice ease of use for functionality any day. S^3 requires much lower processing power to run effectively than Android and iOS, so hopefully as S^3 becomes more established with more powerful hardware the true potential for it will be revealed and iOS and Android will struggle to break new ground.

Symbian does become more capable and functional on my hands. It's true! So it's a fact... But it's a fact for me, not for you.

"Android and ios is much easier device os to use that is not even and arguable statement."
You're right. It isn't an arguable statement. For me they aren't good enough for you they are the best. It's a matter of taste, really, which can't be argued.

Now about iOS. You say it did great because it was friendly.
I disagree. It was the sensitive touchscreen that made it a success. It was, for a long time, the only phone that was a marvel to use.
Nokia isn't doing well you say. It's the company with the highest rate of resistive/capacitive screens apart from Lg, for availiable devices that were anounced in 2010:
                                        LG 23/15= 1.53
                                        Nokia 6/4= 1.5
                                        SE 3/4= 0.75
                                        Moto 11/19= 0.58
                                        Samsung 9/39= 0.23,
                                        HTC 1/16= 0.06
                                        Apple 0/1= 0
Do you notice that this is the sequence of the most impressive financial results? This might be it then...
