This holiday season was not that happy for Nokia, nor was the year

27 January, 2011
Nokia has had a tough 2010, which proved worse than even the recession-bound 2009. The phones volumes and their prices have fallen but Nokia estimates it has taken the lead in the QWERTY...

One thing I wanted to is how many N8's did they manage to sell, but that's one piece of information they didn't disclose, why oh why. Is it 4 mil? More? Less? Does GSMArena know?

@namez bond, yep that phone existed!haha it's a flip phone with a screen that can be rotated. though used it long time ago (5-6 years ago i think).. pretty decent phone (with 2mp camera and video capture) though its thick.

@Anonymous (2011-01-27 19:00), i dont expect you to believe me when weve only met here commenting on each others post. Yeah, you maybe right..that a dual core phone is also an over kill..still, based on my 1 week experience of N8, the N8 can't suffice my needs..sorry but that's my opinion..

This had to be!!! I was a nokia fan boy until 2 years back until i faced disaster with the nokia 5800... i swore never to get buy a nokia... They are dying a slow death and be it, since they deserve it... I'm not a iphone, samsung or sony fan boy but i would never switch back to nokia ever. They only create hyped handsets and fool customers (N8 being the latest example)
          R.I.P to nokia!!!

Things will certainly change this year for both Nokia and LG. Nokia failed with N96 and N97, but the N8 is starting to change things, I'm sure that Nokia will be on the top again when the MeeGo devices start shipping. And LG got some promising phones this year too.
Meanwhile, I'm sure that Apple iPhone will start to fall this year with Android taking the market, Android and iOS got the same kind of public, but Android is growing up really fast while iOS still with stupid limitations. But probably, MeeGo will kill Android and Android will kill iOS. MeeGo won't be the mast that the Android market is, with thousand of different phones with different resolutions, hardwares and technologies, the consequence of this is not all apps from the market are compatible with your phone.
Also, MeeGo will be a true Linux based OS, not only pieces of the Kernel and not a java-emulated-crap as Android, which means that MeeGo will be a lot faster.

my last Nokia phone was N95 (8gb) & i switched to other brands after cause N97 & N900 didn't have the charm as N95.
the funny & sad part is, people hailed Nokia even now, as the king of cell phone & what not...& now look at the results...losses after loss...
i wish the company recovers from this but i won't come back to Nokia in the near future cause Symbian can't live up to it's expectations anymore but let's see what the Meego thing has to offer.

Wow, I knew it. The first thing I see when I come to the comment section in ANY Nokia related news was a bashing comment from an Android fan. Seriously, I got better things to do. Geez.

CellPawn, 27 Jan 2011all are covered with the "Wear and Tear" process.... moreOh really? So all your beloved Android phones got HDMI port, USB On-the-go, FM Transmiter, FM Radio and Adobe Flash?
Speaking about features, Nokia phones are always the best there's no arguin about that. You may say that they are not good about usability, but never about features.
And the Hardware of N8 is bad? LOL
You got an AMOLED screen, a reliable and well constructed body, 12Mp camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lans, all kind of stuff like USB On-the-go, HDMI with Dolby Digital encoding and everything I've mentioned and you say that the hardware is not good? Hardware is not only CPU and RAM you dumbass.
And yeap, N8 battery doesn't have to much capacity, but that's in the paper numbers, in reality, every Android phone draws battery much faster than any other phone.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2011 Yes I care for nature. How about you? Or you just want the... moreall are covered with the "Wear and Tear" process..even mobile phones..who wants to buy another crappy phone when your phone wears out? Im saying my opinion here that when my phone wears out..im gonna buy the BEST phone that i can afford with all the features that i needed the most..and sadly Nokia cant satisfy what i need on a SMART Phone.

Google Issue: That's why Nokia's, in terms of Hardware, an underdog (well even in terms of OS). They don't like to fight head on with their competitors. Fight speed by using speed..the only thing that i remember for the previous year when you say Nokia is the 12MP N8, no more, no less..

Battery Capacity: Yeah, i guess nokia battery capacity is not that much. and i can see the logic..the logic why a lot of Nokia Cellphone Battery spares are sold in stores. I guess they really give a damn in what you call nature's future eh?

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2011That's what Android fans says about a year ago. A year late... moreYep, that's because iPhone and Android are more user-friendly than Symbian.
Android and iOS are all about eye-candy and good usability, Nokia phones are functional and reliable. But when MeeGo phones hits the market, Nokia smartphones will be probably all-in-one again.
But while iOS is very user-friendly, it's got stupid limitations that Android do not, only stupid people still buying iPhone. Considering that, yeah, maybe Apple got one more year going fine in the market.
