This holiday season was not that happy for Nokia, nor was the year

27 January, 2011
Nokia has had a tough 2010, which proved worse than even the recession-bound 2009. The phones volumes and their prices have fallen but Nokia estimates it has taken the lead in the QWERTY...

[deleted post]“The game has changed from battle of devices to war of ecosystems,” Elop said, adding later that “Our industry has changed and we have to change faster.” --- Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO

"build or join a competitive ecosystem" --- Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO

He's not bullshitting. When Stephen Elop Said that Nokia needs to "build or join a competitive ecosystem" it suggests that Nokia may consider joining Android or WP7.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2011Haha, let's see how Apple you be doing with Android growing... moreThat's what Android fans says about a year ago. A year later and Apple is still going strong. Android will have its best year in 2011 and Apple will still be strong and both iOS and Android will grow at the expense of Nokia. In case you haven't noticed, the decline of Nokia started when iOS and Android got into the market.

CellPawn, 27 Jan 2011did i mentioned Nokia wanting to be controlled by google? I... more Yes I care for nature. How about you? Or you just want the BEST phone?

When I said being 'controlled' it wasn't simply the control you know. It would mean following google's requirement for android and so on.

On the other hand, can you all see the logic why Nokia don't put so much battery capacity on their phones?

inhale, 27 Jan 2011Symbian is dead, it's low user interface and is lagging eve... moreSymbian lags? LOL
Take a look at Motorola Milestone and some low-end Androids like Xperia Mini and Samsung Galaxy 5, I've tried them in a store and they lags at least twice and they got such a low resolution 320x240. Android is such a bad optimized crap, it only runs perfectly with a 1Ghz CPU, Android is based in Jave, which is a emulated plataform, with means it's consumes a lot of battery and systems resources, there's no arguint about that, that's a fact. That's why Android phones can only be as fast as iPhone if they go to Dual core CPUs, this is not evolution, this is despair.
I also tried a N8 in the store and it works flawless and smoothly, if N97 as not that fast was because the fact it doesn't have a GPU.
I'm sure that theses people are only influenced, I'm sure they didn't even tried a S^3 phone ever.

                            why they hate Nokia:

                            1. They are too slow to learn complex instructions.
                            2. They think that more than 5 homescreen is cool when in fact 5 panning can be 5 tap from menu to your app or less.
                            3. They think they have premium phone when in fact it cracks just on few drops. Jealousy
                            4. Their phones have no good hardware that they wish Nokia had android etc.
                            5. They think what they see in their place is the same worlwide so they follow the trend.
                            6. Pressure from other inferior thinking people. They don't even know why they hate.

                            ... And many to mention,

Nokia should try using other stuffs on their phones..trying Meego was good..should they try using Android or WP7? HELL YES!! Well, N8 was good market but still way far from other phones launched last 2010..also,the hardware Nokia use are really not on par with the others. Other companies are now launching their dual core 1GHz processor phones and Nokia are still stuck on 680MHz.. Tech Specs are evolving fast..even the users demands on their phones are changing..some may want cameras with phone features..but more are wanting to have phones that can somehow replace their laptops..

NOKIA!! WT* are you doing? you were at the top once! even Moto made a come back.. Do your thing..

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2011So consider this: Only Nokia 6650 fold(I bet is less than ... moreHere's a better calculation:
Let's suppose the average price of the Nokia smartphones between 100 and 150 Euro is 125 Euro.
                                N8 costs around 440 Euro.
                                So 0.1(10%) x 440 + 0.9(90%) x 125 = 156.5 (Euro).
There is the confirmation that N8 sold, MAXIMUM, 10% of the total number of smartphones sold by Nokia, and 10% from 28 million is 2.8 million.

Nokia isn't made exclusively for USA!!!

the wise person will support all companies, nobody want any of them die or the consumer will suffer from the high prices and low quality products, the wises want a competition that just looks like NVIDIA vs. AMD in graphics field.

anyway, I miss the Mediamaster days, maybe Nokia can bring that glory again?
