LG unveils 5.7" QHD+ display with 18:9 ratio, likely to debut on G6

10 January 2017
The QHD+ module is slim, too, as LG says it's less than 1mm thick.

Amolioum, 10 Jan 2017Finally someone who knows what ips-neo is!! Anyway I don't... moreThey are soon to abandon LCDs and start importing their CLEDIS technology, which is a combination of the strengths of AMOLEDs and LCDs and removing their drawbacks at the same time

Heretic, 10 Jan 2017Sony displays are just badAnd you technically have never seen one. The Xperia X's display is too great for an LCD. It was even way brighter than the S7 Edge at manual brightness, and blacks are incredibly dark like AMOLEDs. Here's a proof: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h1CaJQldlLI

Amolioum, 10 Jan 2017I know what oled and amoled are but what I really meant is ... moreI mentioned what you were asking for, but will repeat. you are asking that what makes AMOLED better than LCD and as standard RGB matrix is sharper than diamond pen tile then why people prefer it. Read on
        1) most important thing that technically makes AMOLED superior are, almost every thing. They are much more efficient so longer battery life, they are punchier and that is what most people like, and they are now more color accurate also to satisfy remaining ones.
The only major weakness of AMOLED is pen til matrix which is less sharp than the standard RGB. So here is the answer :even QHD AMOLED panels happen to be more efficient than FHD LCD. so what they lose with matrix arrangement they make up with higher resolution WITHOUT CONSUMING MORE POWER. Yes, an QHD LCD will be sharper than similar AMOLED, but will consume much more power.
Anyway, people with best eyes can't difference above 466ppi.
Best solution is from one plus, 1080p AMOLED RGB.

Anyway aren't both almost identical?Wikipedia says ,so what makes oled better than amoled?
*in my previous post i also posted a part of Wikipedia article but now that I rechecked my post I can't see it!

Sathish, 10 Jan 2017Reflection of my mind!! It should be 2:1..Yes of course it is but think it is much easier to understand 18:9 means equally wide and a little longer (two units to be exact) .

Amolioum, 10 Jan 2017Finally someone who knows what ips-neo is!! Anyway I don't... more1)AMOLED looks more punchy, vibrant and colorful. AMOLED displays of past had worse color accuracy compared to then LCD with a greenish tint, so they weren't as suitable for people who wanted accurate colors, but still, most people like punchy and vibrant colors so even then, people who once got addicted to AMOLEDs never gone back.
2)But in recent years, AMOLED displays also excelled in color accuracy and S7 display is most color accurate right now (even more so than note 7).
3)AMOLED displays have "infinite" contrast because when displaying blacks, their pixel are simply off that is producing no light at all.
                4) because of this, they are also much more efficient than LCDs especially when watching movies because movies have very much black (dark) and this benefit can be even improved if software UI is also black (one plus 3)

18:9? While you're at it call it 1,000,000:500,000 ratio.

It said 564 ppi that means it will be equal to a 5.2" regular16:9 display but longer in length so diagonal will be 5.65" according to my calculations because today I was hoping that someone should make a 2:1 ratio screen phone and give touch controls and when I calculated what will be the digonal of 2:1 version of 16:9 5.5" display it was 6" so if LG uses this in upcoming G6 Then I can bet G6 will have a 5.6/5.7" display with touch controls or another possibility is the extra 320×2560 part will be used as secondary display and phone will be touted as 5.2" with 3" secondary screen .

Anyway I don't think they will add it because this technology is patented to another company named Japan Display Inc. , either way if they add a good amoled panel I think it will be ok!!
*I have a question thought! Many say they want an oled panel instead of an amoled panel that is widely used!Amoled means active matrix oled(organic light-emitting diode) and wikipdia says .So what makes oled better than amoled and people want it?maybe they don't know what amoled actually is?

like all people saying, they should be OLED panel in G6 and another high end phones from LG this year! LCD is good but waste more juice from battery, OLED is power efficient and will be the next big thing, G6 and V30 can stop iphone and galaxy's top selling if LG do it right...

Go LG, you are in the right track, just be OLED! Now its the time...

If I'm not mistaken LG promised oled screens in 2017/2018..hopefully we will get it on the G6. If we will be getting a kick-ass screen, I hope we get a kick-ass huge battery as well. I keep saying...don't give potential buyers an excuse to pass on a good phone cuz the battery is not beefy enuf. I hope it is a 4000+mAh juice pack.
