Alien , 13 Jan 2017No, they're not mad, just greedy. The 5.7" variant actually... moreThey do use gorilla glass. It's been tested by many youtubers. I dropped my Note 7 onto concrete when I was getting out of my car and the screen was fine. Didn't have a case. My friend's S6 was knocked out of his hand in a party on the dance floor and was kicked around yet it didn't smash. Your friend was just unlucky.

Didn't mind them removing the physical home button but taking away the capacitive back and recent keys is a downer for me. Sometimes when viewing content the on screen home keys disappear which makes going back slower compared to having a capacitive key that lets me do it anytime. Oh well.

abdul8, 13 Jan 2017are they mad? 5.7inch standard size? they could have choose... moreNo, they're not mad, just greedy. The 5.7" variant actually has the displays from the recalled Nuclear 7. What did you think it's gonna happen with all those millions of recalled phones? They disassembled them and used the spare parts to make other phones. And after that, they ask super high price for the new S8 made out of second hand products. Sammy is such a joke.
And yes, they do copy crapple for naming the other device "Plus" and having a dual camera on that version only.
Sammy is the crapple of Android and lately (since S3) all they do is trying to steal crapple's clients. I don't care, but people get very frustrated after a while cos LagWiz is doing it's job and they blame android when actually it's Sammy's fault.
On top of everything, I suspect Sammy of lying to it's customers about having gorilla glass on their phones. They all brake like it's plain glass. And who gets money if you have to repair the display? You guessed it: Sammy. My friend's S6 dropped from his pocket on the wood floor while sitting on a chair and the display looked like someone smashed it with a hammer. From a 40-50 cm drop! And he had a case!
If you want a real phone I suggest the Pixel or Sony XZ.

          I love it already

Skeptical because 5.7 inches as a start is very risky. The case renders show no sign of a dual lens. If it is indeed correct, it would be fantastic!

Hmmm... I think I'll wait for one of those new Nokia's or perhaps go for an Amoled equipped Sony this year. Edge design is too fragile, the home button was very convenient to take calls and these new phones are too big. I bet they ditched the irda-blaster on this model too.

AnonD-523334, 13 Jan 2017I bet camera setup on both vanilla and plus (if exist) will... moreFeel the same. If Samsung does the following:

                      - Name the larger of the two 'Samsung Galaxy 8 Plus'
                      - Give the larger of the two a dual camera setup
                      - Remove the 3.5mm headphone jack from both models

... they'd be making it very clear that they are no longer leading nor influencing the flagship phone landscape. That's quite important to consumers because doing things like that is what gave validation to the lack of things like removable batteries, FM radios, infrared blasters, stereo speakers, microSD slots and the likes in flagship phones. Somebody made those decisions and other's followed suit which is what gives normalisation to things like this.

Nrlastest, 13 Jan 2017I think they want uhd And they cant do it on a smaller scre... moreThe homebutton wasn't ugly. It's also the most convenient way to take calls. As many people seem to have problems with sliding some shit onscreen. Just use a huawei phone to see what I mean, it has a ridiculous take-call slider where the sliding circle is hard to see.

In fact phones should have more buttons again to take calls. Like Nokia's used to have.

are they mad? 5.7inch standard size? they could have choose 5.5 and 6 inch variants.

Clubman, 13 Jan 2017Why Samsung suddenly jumped from 5.2 to 5.7 inches standard... moreI think they want uhd And they cant do it on a smaller screen as Sony And they jumped at a bigger screens.
Glass or plastic its the same shit, they could make a full metal body or why not Something interesting. I dont like Samsung Phones that i hold in my hand but S8 its Something that i really like And finally they 'killed' the ugly home buton as the screenshots suggest.
