Symbian users are increasing globally. Check the numbers.

there is a reason for people saying that. its because symbian has less functionality, usability, integration and eyecandy compared to android. otherwise why would they make such comments if they have everything with symbian ?"
Because they trust Nokia and they believe that Meego will be better. Should Nokia or it's customers stop pursuing better products and services because the present crop is already very good? Because if that's the case, then Googole should dumb Adroid 3.0 because Adroid 2.3 is already very good - does it make sense?

AnonD-291, 04 Feb 2011"Android fanboys are wondering what Nokia has to conti... moreSurpassing Symbian in Q4 doesn't make Android a leader.
I didn't said that Android choise to make it open for everyone is wrong, but that makes obviously why it's growing up so fast (Now even chinese phones are using Android).
I going to be really clear: I'm probably a Nokia "fanboy", but I never said that Symbian is the best OS in the world, Android and iOS is ahead in terms of usability and eye candy. About functionality I can't see where Android wins, N8 is more functional than almost any (if not all) other Android phone in the market.
If we can have the same good hardware and functionality of the N8 with a beautier and more friendly OS and a faster CPU, obviously it will be even better.

http://www.y... moreAndroid can certainly do that, it has been for years.
The app drawer and the close app buttons are a copy of iOS.
Nokia fans getting excited over a ui for the same reasons they were complaining about iOS: "pretty icons are for children" now that nokia gets a good ui 5 years later, they say it's the best thing in the world lol

Its nokia who alone fighting against android.and other samsung,lg,moto r greedy one they doesnt have any kind of humanity and royalty.they doesnt stick with one .once symbian goes popular they adopted symbian, now android goes popular they adopt android, in future meego goes popular they will adopt meego .as u know nokia is the leading mobile manufacturing company in the world and nokia share going down but nokia can raise there share by putting android in nokia then everyone would definitely buy it but nokia is royal to symbian.bcoz symbian makes nokia worlds strongest mobile like n70,n73,n95,n96,e71,e73 etc.and nokia will probably trying his best by intel+meego to give more and better Facilities than android and not adopting crapy google android thats y we love connecting people NOKIA

AnonD-743, 03 Feb 2011Android fanboys are wondering what Nokia has to continue st... more"Android fanboys are wondering what Nokia has to continue strong and continue in the lead while Android is not, creating smartphones with that are supposedly "ugly an outdated"."
looks like you haven't been reading the news have u ?
recent study showed that android has surpassed symbian smartphones sold in q4 2010. android has grown 615 % from last year.
at the beginning android had none of the manufacturers it has now while symbian had 70+ % market share. so if u say that there are so many manufacturers for android,
why didn't Nokia do something like free licensing to allow other manufacturers move towards symbian?
if Nokia wants to be alone in making symbian phones its their decision. nokia had their strategy and Google had theirs too and latter one has prevailed and u can't say that there are so many manufactures for android.
anyway symbian is moving toward its death. symbian market share is declining constantly and this rate of decline is also increasing. and Nokia themselves will be the ones that are going to support this decline by making a meego phone. you can see all threads about Nokia being littered with post like "meego rocks , meego can do this it can do that and blah blah....." by mostly symbian users.
there is a reason for people saying that. its because symbian has less functionality, usability, integration and eyecandy compared to android. otherwise why would they make such comments if they have everything with symbian ? they would have rather opposed the move by Nokia. so that gives u an indication of what symbian is and its future, doesn't it? :)

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2011You just ignore that N8 does not support Flash 10.1. This w... moreYep, N8 doesn't have Flash 10.1, but most phones have no Flash at all, so that's not that bad. If you REALLY need Flash 10.1, OK then, buy a phone with Flash 10.1 then, instead, N8 got some really nice features, that are very useful for me, unfortunately you can't have all on the same device anymore.
Lacks cool factor? LOL That's your opinion. N8 is one of the coolest and original phones I've ever seen, most Android phones are boring and look the same (MY OPINION), seriously man, try to be impartial. If you think N8 is bulky (which for me it isn't), there is the C7 that is almost as thin as the iPhone 4, and you probably will only lose the camera, with is the "bulckier" factor that you hate so much.
Limited homescreens? I really do think that is easier to open the Application menu than swyping between hundreds of homescreens, but if you do not agree, well, try SPB Mobile Shell, or just go for Android again.
Seriously man, I wouldn't be very excited with these new dual core smartphones, it looks more like martketing factor than a big improvement, it's like that they doensn't have anything else to put on a phone and are starting desperately to try something to impress fool people.
Also, look for performance comparassions between a Pentium D (first Intel dual core) and an Athlon 64, you will see how Athlon 64 perfoms faster than Pentium D even with only one core and also less clock (Athlon 64 normally runs at 2Ghz and Pentium D at 3Ghz or more).
What I mean is: Let's just wait and see, don't be so certain how goo will be these dual core smartphones.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2011You just ignore that N8 does not support Flash 10.1. This w... moreremember android is linux based
so it has no other choice to support adobe flash desktop
nokia is more of a smartphone OS plus it's a smaller OS in general so it uses the lite version which is the same as the desktop version
flash lite= adobe flash

AnonD-743, 03 Feb 2011Android fanboys are wondering what Nokia has to continue st... moreYou just ignore that N8 does not support Flash 10.1. This will be the deal breaker for millions of customers. Also you ignore how bulky N8 is. It lacks the cool factor. The camera protruding in the back is really annoying, so is the very limited number of homescreens, and the small ugly widgets. Android overtook Symbian and the gap between the two will grow once the new dual core Androids will arrive on the market. IF MeeGo comes it must really blow the new dual core Androids out of the water to have a chance to grow, but this is clearly impossible.

I simply can't understand why Android fanboys are so afraid with Nokia and MeeGo, I guess they are afraid to have to give up to MeeGo someday. When MeeGo hits the market, the competion will heat up, it's convenient for us costumers, no matter if you buy a Android or MeeGo, don't be stupid people.

Android fanboys are wondering what Nokia has to continue strong and continue in the lead while Android is not, creating smartphones with that are supposedly "ugly an outdated".
If ever someone show me one trustable reasearch that shows that Android was at least one year selling more than Nokia with Symbian, I would not be surprised. Have you ever thought how many companies are working on Android? Sony Ericsson, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG are just SOME of the companies that gave up their own system to surrender to Android, and you want someone to be surprised if Android outsell the Nokia alone with Symbian? Android is an open source system that anyone can use it and it's not news to anyone, now you really think that Android would be as big as it is today if it were a system restricted to Google smartphones? You really think so?
Some trolls say that Nokia sells a lot in other countries because they are poor, China is poor then? Nokia completely dominates the market in China, and even in other poorer countries are also sold "cheap" Android devices, so this argument is completely invalid.
Now to the N8 hardware, I honestly think it's hilarious when you talk to the hardware of the N8 is weak, it shows how your concept about hardware is extremely limited. Compare N8 with most Android phones, the N8 is made of aluminium of high quality, has a 12MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, an AMOLED screen, HDMI output that makes encoding of Dolby Digital, USB On the go, FM Transmiter, and so on. Any Android market has some crucial missing feature that Nokia devices have not, not to mention things that HTC handsets usually have bad cameras, Samsung and Sony Ericsson phones tend to have poor build quality and costumer support, and Motorola is just a crap.
