Gibby , 23 Jan 2017Lots of people posting opinions based on their small hands.... moreis not about that . What do they want if the future to use tv screens for smartphone. Enough is enough .
The thing is totaly other . People like you can buy the big note series , you allready have an option fron Samsung , people who buy s-series buy the s-series because thet want smaller size or medium size phones . You people allready have options , is you think that 5,1 galaxy s series is to small you can wait for the note series and to that time , but what about the rest of us who want higher specs in at least medium size ? If Samsung will not make high end smartphone with decent size and home button we have a lot other brands that we can change

I have president Trump's size hands, Means that 5.1-5.3" is enough for me.

Does it really have the same Aspect ratio?
Some phones without hardware buttons uses taller displays, so that the onscreen buttons, still leaves 16:9 for the actual use.
If that is the case, one can't simply meassure the diagonal.
In case a display, displays material that is not aspect ratio sensitive, the actual area is one way to go. But as long as there is material that is aspect ratio sensitive, it's best to have both figures. Assuming that the on screen-buttons can be hidden, otherwise that area should not be included in any calculations.

Lots of people posting opinions based on their small hands.
I guess single hand operation on screen set-up has never occurred to them.

Surely anyone who believes a larger screen-to-body-ratio is a bad thing is mentally defective.

I own S7 edge and I like it due the wow factor. But from the usability perspective, the smaller S7 is the phone to have. While after about 10 months Samsung finally added water-on-display detection so the phone doesn't behave like in an epileptic seizure in even just a light rain, the accidental edge touch detection is still non-existent, and the S7 edge is an absolute nightmare to handle. Eg. good luck trying to pick up the phone or pass it to someone else while the display is on, without accidentaly launching apps or tapping some buttons. The S8 will have this even worse unless accidental edge detection is introduced.
Also the screen-lock button placed almost directly opposite the volume-down button makes it next to impossible to lock the phone while not held in the palm, e.g. while on wireless charger.
Last but not least the volume-down button in S7 edge is too high so that it's difficult to use it as camera shutter with index finger while shooting single handedly.
I hope you hear me, Samsung.

Perfect phone for me is 5.1” screen (or 5.2" if it possible), and 65 mm body wide (like A3 2016 body). It's just perfect for one hand operations and all day work...
And to achieve complete happiness the phone must be with mat screen. ;)

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2017I think the Galaxy S3 had the perfect screen size at 4.8" ... moreI agree totally with the sentiment that there should be more 4.8 or similar size phones. There is a market for large phones but OEM's are overlooking the preference of many for high end smaller phones in the 4.7 to 5.2 inch size range.

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2017I hope that Note 8 will never exist. The Note series is a m... moreI really felt what you're saying after Note 4... It used to be the complete package, now only S-Pen with exorbitant prices(800€+ smh), don't think I would pay that much for a phone when smartphones like OP3 does the same thing at half the price plus it's dual-sim+faster...

My phone portfolio went like this:
                      Note 2 > Note 3 > OnePlus 3

I wanted Note 7, but no 4000mah, no dual sim, no dual camera, no 6gb ram etc. +exploding problems and 850€ nothx.

Checked the measurements from the renders. The S8 Plus is slightly longer and slightly narrower than my Note 3 (That I'm still using with no battery problems) with a bigger screen.
                        I'll go for the S8+
                        YMMV

With the smaller bezels and the curved portion of the screen, the 5.7" phone will probably feel smaller in the hand than most 5.5" phones. I don't think I could comfortably operate the 6.3" beast with my hobbit sized hands tho.

Its just a shame that these days samsung and a few others represent smaller screen size with inferior technology. Samsung has done it again with the new 2017 A series. The A3 is less capable than the A5 or A7 WHY? it doesnt have to be like that and samsung proved it when they released the Galaxy Alpha, top specs in a small form.

Skye , 23 Jan 2017This phone is WAYYYYYY TO BIG for any normal sized personYup, I have the same opinion. I like phones that are easy to use with one hand only. Anything above 5" makes it very difficult to use, no matter what screen to body ratio that may be, so I'll pass.
                                I don't have monster hands!

i think most of the people dont know the difference between screen size and phone size
s7edge is just almost the same as iphone 4.7"
so after a few months you can buy 6.3" phone just a few mm bigger than 4.7" phone

If they can fit a 6.3inch screen but keep the proportions similar to the already slim-bezel boasting S7 edge, then why stop them? I'd say bring it on. :D

if 5.1-inch is possible, it could be 69x134mm. And I will definitely buy it!

                                        Hi Guys,

Forget about the fact about the size of the S8. Cuz it will definitely come in a compact size & a plus size model. The main point is what are the features the S8 will showcase in a phone. Will it be possible to be used by astronauts in Space - Let's say for example ??? Will it come with better curved screens ? How long will the S line move on ? After S8, Will there be S9 & S10, & after that What. Samsung's biggest competitor is Apple. Apple has a bigger & stronger market & powerful market when compared to Samsung in Security, Reliability & Precision. I believe Samsung reacts to the market when Apple has decided to showcase their next Line of products which is getting smarter than ever. I am not criticizing & the best phone so far I have used is My Note 5. Very good phone. I fell in love with the phone so much that after a year of using the Note 5, I decided to buy another one & only the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 32 GB is available, The 64 GB is still not available. But, If you want the Apple I Phone 6S Plus 128 GB, That is still available in the market. I was thinking of buying the Samsung Galaxy S7, But I am thinking of switching to The Apple I Phone 6S Plus or I Phone 7 or 7 Plus or wait for the I Phone 7S range or wait for the I Phone 8 which is rumored.
