A fruit based design? What? Nokia, come on.
Also fruit company = Apple. Don't they know that? At least he didn't slice an apple.
E7 was supposed to run on Meego but they dropped that idea. When is Meego coming out? Probably never.

Aaron, 07 Feb 2011Outdated Symbian you're calling is far more advanced in fun... moreSymbian is an outdated os, the list of specs say it "can do" almost anything but the problem is that Symbian does everything so very bad that it is almost unusable, for example the webbrowser is totally unusable. Good camera is available in new Androids, even 3d camera and 3d screen, and usb-otg is also soon on Androids, and Androids is more costimisable with more than only 3 start screens and more userfriendly without having to go through endless folders and subfolders before you can do want you want to do, and no live wallpapers...
Androids can do all and more than Symbian, and users at xda-developers can make it do even more than that.
599 euro for a Symbian is much to expensive, tbe only reason to still use Symbian is for having it on low-cost phones, but for 599 the user expect a more userfriendle and costumisable and "beautiful" os than Symbian.
If a Symbian from Nokia can cost as much as 599 what will a N9 with MeeGo cost, 899?

Typical communicator price point. The 9210, 9500, 9300, and E90 were all at similar price points when released. No, none of them were worth it. The each trickled down to a more realistic price point over time. The difference was I was excited about the 9500 and the E90, the E7 just looks like a me too device. Being that I've owned nearly every other communicator in the past, this device is marketed to me... Only thing is, I don't really want it.

Is this phone the new Communicator? The successor to the popular E90 series? At that price, I would think so.

"Best thing about the CBD is that it is not the pentile RGBG cheat that Super Amoled does. If you add that to the GSM Arena comparison, CBD is the actual winner."
I think you'll find the Retina Display would be the winner then.

Anonymous, 07 Feb 2011Symbian is a legend. I have high respects for the OS. It is... moreOriginality will not take you far if your original OS does not create a good enough user experience. I do feel that under the hood, Symbian has some good features. However, the UI is behind the times. It feels more like a UI for a feature phone with a T9 keyboard rather than a UI for a touch screen interface. As good as the many features that the E7 has (HDMI, USB OTG, CBD, etc.), you still have to access them through the UI which I feel is Symbian's weak point.
I was actually considering the E7 when it was announced way, way back in September. The delay in getting it to the market, poor browser reviews and now its price point really turns me off.

David, 07 Feb 2011@Myself R u serious ?! Symbian sofisticated !? :):):)yes, sophisticated. Im nt talkin abt the UI (which is probably ur idea of an OS). Im talkin abt the core OS itself, Symbian is miles ahead of Android OS. Thatz a fact

Interesting observation: any news regarding Nokia immediately flooded by some kind of people, trolling and trolling over and over again. I think that they do this for money. Otherwise I have no explanation to this. For example 3 days old news about andriod - 60 comments. 3 days old news about Nokia update for "outdated" Symbian - 260 omments. This news already collected 80 comments
And all this people saying exacly same words differs only from news to news.
Who is guiding you, guys? Who behind you?

I've just been reading that Nokia are contemplating dropping MeeGo for Windows Phone 7. I reckon that could be the bombshell of MWC 2011. Watch this space!
PS: The E7 looks like a nice phone.

I would guess that for buisness people, the amount of homescreens is less of an issue. Symbian might actually be good enough for them. As for the hardware, Nokia is pretty good in that.
I just don't know why a regular consumer would buy this, rather than a Milestone or a Desire Z. Maybe for the 8 megapixel camera... But I would wait for the new Sony-Errikson handsets, in that respect.
