Ugly modular expensive device. What did they expect..

Over priced devices and the spec of the device is not upto mark and it's not worth for price. we can get better device cheaper than LG ( Lenovo,Redmi etc) with better spec like high ram, battery, memory.so,this is why the downfall of LG Mobile.. it's better change the CEO.

What a surprise! Next time you want to innovate, do it right. Motorola did it with the Moto Z (while it was super dumb to keep the Z Force as an US exclusive, since the battery there is decent, the camera too and the shatter-proof display is great).

I trust LG's home appliances. In fact we have an LG refrigerator for years now and want to buy their automatic washing machine.

For mobile phones, I think LG is not performing well as Samsung keeps on top with its excellent smartphones.

LG Mobile is an unecessary extra business. It is not profitable in the long run considering that the smartphone market is now competitive and crowded. LG should divest its phone business and focus on home appliance business.

And after all what they said, they haven't released pooular V20 in EU. I guess truth of their words don't last long. Now again you could say their sales depend on what chip they will use for G6. Makes me even more curious now that samsung eats all 835's.

Quit bootlooping and you might increase sales.

So what did they expected for? Ugly design, lack of support (updates? You don't need it as LG think), glitchy slow and buggy software (true to say - not that critical bugs, but they never fix them at all). In Russia they don't sell v20, lg g5 downgraded with cheap processor but price 1.5 times higher comparing USA, etc etc etc. They following Nokia and MS way - they always know better what we neeed than ourselves. Maybe lg g8, but not these two years ahead, sorry LG.

I'm not sure how successful the G6 will be, if it will launch with the Snapdragon 821 and not 835, as rumors say. But if it looks good in regards to battery, camera, bezels and display, and has the right price, it could be quite successful.

Tourettes Guy, 25 Jan 2017If they improve their marketing strategy, they can easily o... moreSony is still perceived as quality brand nad it still has significant brand acceptance. Sony has to do only these things to get back on track :-

                    1. Make good phones: when I say good I mean a well balanced phones in all departments eg batterylife, performance etc. Half the Sony phones have serious weaknesses in various departments. Consumers and reviewers do not accept these now a days.
                    2. Seriously work a lot on flagship series phones as they bring maximum profits and brand recognition. Sony has struggled recently in making good flagship phones and they really seem confused with what consumer segment they are targeting.
                    3. They are pricing like crazy. If you have a good phone take premium on it and if you have made a bad phone launch it at discounted rate. Sony has launched many mediocre phones at crazy high prices. In overall pricing of Sony 10 to 15 percent price correction is needed.
Work only on these three points and do not depend only on fans for sale. We will surely see Sony on its feet again. Samsung did same in 2015 and onwards after fall of S 5 and other series phones.

I'm sure killing the one differentiating factor of theirs (the removable batt) would help them... good going LG.

Instead of agressively pushing the one thing that made you better than the rest you kill it!

Here's an idea! Just kill the charger!. Instead of a charger include a compact battery charger plus a spare battery. Then create a mechanism that would pop out the battery without hassle (the opposite of LG G5) and w/t killing the phone (a secondary embedded battery is running while one makes the swap).

Addict people on zero charge time and the capacity to double their capacity (if they want by carrying a spare)! And then win droves of new fans .... but noooo, let's do what everyone else does. Let's increase charging from 1 minute (swapping) to one hour (at least).

I mean people carry chargers anyway, a battery charger + extra battery would hardly be bigger. What the hell LG, why didn't you make the most of it?

...so happy to see bad business suffering... it's about to get worse.

[deleted post]Numbers say everything. Who am I to judge. Even after fall of Note 7 they made significant profit. Who the hell bought all these Samsung phones?
Try to Think from brains if you have any. FYI I never used a Samsung phone. Since start Nokia and Motorola only. I am impressed with Samsung only bcz with such large product portfolio they are consistently doing better and better. They must be doing something right which others have failed.

It's all about how they market

Nothing surprising about this report, really. Even in 2015, V10 posted better-than-expected sales for LG. People are willing to buy a good product like the V20. But if you deliver a sub-par half-baked smartphone like the G5, then it's a completely different story.

IMHO, we users have 4 choices left in the market (and LG has 4 segments to place itself):
1-Non IP protected phone with removeable battery which you can change in 10 seconds when the battery dies 1-2 years later (I haven't experienced any Samsung battery which keeps its full health after 12-14 months even I never leave it charged all through the night). Currently only new removeable battery flagship phone is V20 with very poor battery capacity (if it had a 4000mAh battery and a fashionable casing, market would be very different now). LG bundles and tries to sell it with LG 360+H3 earphone+B&O DAC (which is expected to be used in G5 and already has even better guts in V20). These flagships are expensive. But actually they have to be sold cheaper to eat share from below Type-2 segment. IMO LG has only chance here in this segment. LG G6 has to have removeable battery (can be IP protected like Samsung S5; in that case we would call it innovative!) and with SD card. With metal structure and metal battery cap, by using proper O-rings, IP protection is not difficult.

2-IP protected sealed battery flagship phones (iPhone7, S7, etc.) which you pay a premium after the battery gives up life or live with a battery pack or worstly become addicted to power plugs (We call it "iPhone style of life"). These flagships are VERY expensive to buy and maintain. LG has no chance here. LG has no brand value like Samsung & Apple. Only 2 phone brands can compete here. Huawei trying to put itself here in this segment. Wrong strategy.

3-Non-IP protected sealed battery cheap phones (Xiaomi, Huawei, Meizu, etc.). If battery gives up life, you either make it changed or throw the phone away. These flagships are cheaper than Type-2. LG G6 has no chance here.

4-Non-IP, sealed, no SD. Nothing. Poor (and angry) man's flagship phones. An SD820 powered Xiaomi Mi5 is sold around 250-USD. People who are screwed by Samsung, LG, Apple for years moved to this segment. God knows how low is the profit in this segment. You need to sell ten millions from each model. LG has no chance here at all.

SO, if LG puts removeable battery and SD card inside, prices it properly, avoids that bootloop problem (man don't you have any engineering team to solve that terrible problem?; wake up it is 2017) by correcting the production method, we will have a distinctive phone of Type-1. It will survive according to its pricing policy (which we haven't seen any common sense so far from LG)
If sealed battery and with SD and IP protection, SAMSUNG is already there. No chance at all! If also removes SD card, we have iPhone territory which can eat the LG alive! Type-2 is TOO competitive for anyone.
God save them from competing in Type 3 (or even worsely Type-4) format and getting disappeared from the market in 2-3 years. Xiaomi, Huawei will ace this segment.

I hope LG's sales in 2017 will be even lower if G6 will have non-removable battery.

As long as they refuse to make a decent size 5 - 5.2 phone they will fail. Look at all the other manufacturers, launching 4.7 - 5.2 with there 5.5 and 5.7.
