Samsung is developing a phone with Tizen 3.0

25 January 2017
The device is going under the name 'Pride’ and will be launched in the same countries that saw Z2, the previous Tizen-based smartphone.

I really like my Z2, it is very fast phone but lack of apps and some apps don't run properly but still it's better than Windows Mobile that i ever tried ( Windows Mobile is more buggy than Tizen, performance is even worse and i'm done with Windows Mobile.)

Spotify is there on Tizen TV and Smartwatch
Netflix is there on Tizen TV
But those apps unavailable on Tizen Phones

C'mon Sammy, if those apps available on Tizen i might switch to Tizen ( i don't care about game but there is a lot game on Tizen)

Mik, 25 Jan 2017I hope they don't skip any nos. The last time they did.......Did you know that the Galaxy S4 LTE-A was released in some markets as the GALAXY J? That's because of that 4 that sounds like the word death in Chinese or Japanese. I am not sure which one but it was released. Search it here.

        :@Shaun Moroz

WTF are you talking about? LOL
Tizen is every way much better than Android. Except of the apps number.
And surpassed WP already on OS popularity , with just one phone model. And not even on sale world-wide, yet.

Samsung thinks they can throw their junk into India.

If this phone is launched in US then US will throw Samsung out of the country..

I can't wait for this OS to fail.
Manufacturers, seriously, stop creating your own operating systems. They won't compete with Android.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2017Wait, did google copy Samsung's launcher from Tizen? HahahaI don't get why these arguments are made. Does it make you feel better to say someone copied another person? It doesn't matter, consumers don't care. They buy things. I don't care who made ABS brakes first, I want them in my car. Does it make you feel high and mighty that the OS you are using did something first?

KMB877, 25 Jan 2017Just wondering myself - what is the strategy and the reason... moreSo that they have something own. If Android sometime falls in parts (like google closing android for 3rd party manufacturers or something scandalous or a minor reason), Samsung still has some backup in the phone department where it will focus at. And maybe a little bit trying to make some kind of ecosystem like apple.

looking forward to buying a new samsung TV in the far future because mine is a LE32A (A stands for 2008) so I hope their tizen OS will still be developed and make progress, at least on TV.

Good luck Samsung. I really like that. It's a great job to find a way to do the you're own OS. You should include tizen to the Galaxy A,S and note series.

Though Gear S2 and Gear S3 watch works very well with Tizen. In fact people actually love it. They only hate the Tizen phone.

Just wondering myself - what is the strategy and the reason behind the Tizen OS? Despite the N7 story, Samsung shipped out 90 million cellphones during Q4 2016... so why spent energy and resources for a non-Android technology?
