I still like the G5 more because of its removable battery.

I dont know if that all hater is bond/become hater after they us the phone and it disappointed him/her or they be hatter and judge the phone without ever use/test it. I'm not LG fans but except bootloop, LG flagship phone is good choice if you prefer big brand flagship phone outside Apple and Samsung.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2017No it was not. It had pathetic battery life and it was over... moreYou do know that nothing stops you from buying an extended battery or a spare... that's pretty much the point of removable battery, I dunno why very few people undestand that.

I much prefer a sucky removable batt than a good embedded one. Because the embedded will age and die, the removable can be replaced (with a better one) right off the bat.

It's an upgradeable asset no need to treat it like a immovable barrier. I mean you payed $450 for your phone , pay another $30 for those sweet anker batteries and problem is solved. If on the other hand your embedded battery starts rotting (as they all do after several dozens oF cycles) what are you going to do?

G3 was a perfect phone, until it goes to G4, where they need to use SD808, ending up with the bootloop and dead motherboard, also the locked bootloader issues. G5 design was disappointing as well, the G4 issues didn't go away , adding to the poor quality complaint. Do not ask us to buy another LG again.

Jimbob, 30 Jan 2017Naa the damage is done. They tried to give us this modular ... moreNobody asked or needed modular design. It's unnecessary. Only removable storage and batteries are needed, everything else ages too slowly to have a need to be removable.

See for example SD820 and SD835, you'd be hard pressed to see a difference between the two in every day situations, but sure as heck can see a difference between a year old battery and a new battery for the simple reason that batteries don't age well.

Same with cameras. My Note 4 camera still beats many/most of the modern phone cameras. If there was a 3rd thing (apart from storage and battery) to be upgradeable is RAM (espec as new versions of android get released), but I realize that's hard so I simply buy the phone with the most RAM to be future proofed.

So a loooot of RAM, removable battery and storage and your phone is set. Pretty much what LG is *not* doing... bye, bye LG.

I don't think the821 will be a problem , unless they push the vr, it runs fairly hot in the pixel devices.
The G5 had too many strikes against it ,

The case design was pretty sad , compounded by poor fit and finish , build quality was also pretty sad , add to that , despite having a swap out battery , the battery size was just adequate.
I think the mods and swap out battery may have been a hit if all the other problems where not there , and that's without even mentioning the passable but not great ips lcd screen.
Just looking at the G6 it looks nicer , but that alone won't be enough unless the other issues that plagued the G5 are not addressed .

AnonD-633173, 29 Jan 2017That's the dumbest idea ever.Smartest idea ever.

You have a charger anyway. So instead of it, have a battery charger+spare (almost same footprint, but gives instant 100%).

Instead of trolling tell me where you disagree.

The only reason i was thinking to buy a lg phone was removable battery.now without that i won't even following their news. İ think every phone maker most make at least one flagship with removable battery option for the ones doesn't go to swimming with their phone :))) waterproof?!?! And amazing thing is it is not covered by guarantee

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2017Man, I truly can't believe that only 10% of the gsmarena au... moreMost don't know how to use them. I mean their phone has removable and still charge the phone same as usual and/or never replace the original battery (with a bigger/new one).

I think it's OEM's fault. There should have been at least one (OEM) which would show users how they can possibly use the removable battery. Most don't even know the point of it...

My suggestion was for LG to remove the charging port and instead create a mechanism that pushes out the battery all the while including a compact batt charger + spare, instead of phone charger. Lastly add a tiny embedded battery that would keep the lights on while the swap is happening.

That way end users would be addicted to having no charge time , plus twice the battery life (if they take the charger/spare with them...

I think it was honestly implemented badly so that people will never learn how to use it properly and thus swap it out of existence eventually (as they did). Planned obsolescence works wonders to OEMs' bottom line.

Still I think LG would be able to steal sales from the large players. It would be worth a shot, having better battery and charge time than any other OEM is not a small thing. It would had given them an edge. They were close... instead they'll now close shop (the way they are going).
