Nokia lacked good leadership and vision. I am glad I dumped all my Nokia shares two years ago (at a huge loss).

biggest mistake of nokia is its failure in the US market! if you cant make it in the US you most probably wont make it anywhere! even if they adopt android or windows, they will fail if they cant crack the US market.

Nokia wil adopt wp7. Bt wait it wont b stoppin symbian 3 or meego. It wil b suicidal. They ll mk few wp7 devices. And regarding android, Wat gud s android othr than those apps. And guys meego ll b able to run android apps and tht too without modifyin. Hope nw u got Elops idea. Thts build meego, use android apps (via alien dalvik) and join wp7.

great that NOKIA is admitting their weakness against the uprising of other telebrands and new OSs. once the foothold is too strong it makes tough move also, that's exactly what happened in case of NOKIA. but NOKIA must be more versatile in design, quick in bringing out new flagships, continue with SYMBIAN^3 and MEEGO, but also collaborate with google, i hope my favorite brand is again at the TOP in all ranges......

Nokia, our platform is burning. -Stephen Elop

I'm glad GSMA picked up this news. Nokia fanboys were claiming the memo is fake and couldn't believe it's coming out straight from the CEO. Now the fanboys can no longer deny that something is wrong with Nokia.

"This is what I have been trying to understand. I believe at least some of it has been due to our attitude inside Nokia. We poured gasoline on our own burning platform. I believe we have lacked accountability and leadership to align and direct the company"

for d comment above u r absolutely rite mr CEO, Nokia attitude need 2b change a.s.a.p.

It's hard to believe in 3 short years their marketshare is almost eroded to single digets. It's a classic case of 'fiddling while Rome burns'.... The world is still a big place with another billion or so handsts growing the pie.
Perhaps Elop is the turnaround guy, his memo was raw and honest, i appaud him!

Elop is an ex microsoft employe. He'll bring Nokia to Microsoft's doorstep. Simple.

Also I'm not sure why so many people vouch by Android. It really isn't all that good AND the Google ecosystem suffers from extreme hardware fragmentation which is really bad for app compatibility and performance.

Also Google and BETA have become synonyms for most things these days.

I say nokia should stick with the meego and symbian OS. What needs to be done is amp up the cpu to 1 ghz instead of 600 mhz. also, the lack of advertising has hurt nokia.

I wrote this not because I am a Nokia fanboy! I personally don't like Nokia because it still stuck at Symbian and Symbian is outdated! That why I prefer Android.

one of Nokia's problems is that their phones are TOO EXPENSIVE! I love nokia but I'm not going to pay $900+ for a Cell phone. Yeah their phones have great specs but thats too high. They also need to let other manufacturers use Meego like I think they're doing. Hopefully they go heavy on the Meego and don't join Android. We need competition, not Monopoly and dictatorship. They won't join iOS because for one, Ios is proprietary and Only seen on iPhones, then there was that huge lawsuit. I hope they don't join anything Microsoft, I'd rather them join Android before Microsoft Mobile. I'm on my 5th HD2 for software and hardware problems. Can't wait to see whats in store on Friday. Do us proud Nokia and don't join Android.

*Thumbs up to Nokia for admitting they are FAIL
*The man can still smile despite of the company's downfall = JERK
*Based on what he said, reading between lines, Nokia has already the technology to surpass Apple and Android.
*Nokia is 70% Symbian, 20% Meego, 10% others.
*So thats what you got when you underestimate your rivals.
*ECOSYSTEM - all I know is the Predator-Prey relationship. Guess who's the prey.
*Upgrade to Symbian^5 is the only solution. (No S^4s, Nokia is really superstitious and avoids all with 4. Guess that didnt work for them this time)
*I'm still a Nokia fan, but N0 to Nokia-Android tandem, YES to Nokia-WP7!
