Report suggests the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have bigger batteries than the S7 duo

Each gets a small bump, but the phones will be thinner too.

Imagine profits of smaller, still good enough resolution screen on phone performance. And NOMINAL contrast ratio is meaningless because AMOLED can switch off lighting for black pixels completely, leading to infinite contrast ratio. More useful indication is sunlight contrast ratio, in which old Nokia 808 is still the king.

Spare QHD for phablets. Work more on color accuracy and contrast.

Before everyone is jumping for joy, that's only 8 and 4% increased battery capacity from the S7 and S7 Edge respectively. Nothing significant.

Nothing beats being able to put a higher capacity battery so I would not have to carry a power pack to keep it powered up for the day - ever. Not having to top up a sealed battery in the middle of the day.

I want to have a reliable device that I can give 10 hours SOT without my having to worry about power.

Still smaller than note 7. I guess it wasn't just the battery at fault.

My wallet hurts, seeing them prices though.

AnonD-640204, 31 Jan 2017Bigger? I'd say smaller. The comparison shouldn't be NAME d... moreBecause a 3250 mAh battery is bigger than 3000 mAh battery, kid. (duh) That's so simple and obvious I shouldn't even point this out.

btw, please tell me your ways to test the battery life of a phone that isn't even in the market yet. I'll wait.

Just make sure that these phones aren't paper thin like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus used to be in the past. You know, I own a Zenfone Max, and although it's very bulky, it's still very nice to hold, thus that bulk added to the phone made sense of the undisputed battery championship, something flagships hardly ever reaches considering the price. I wish a new battery technology will be developed that will be smaller and can pack more energy density inside than our current ones we have today. Only time will tell, and progression is a step-by-step process before it goes to evolution, but hey, everyone including companies want that right? Like scientists say, "Nothing is impossible to happen if you don't lose hope. It may be very difficult and might take a very long time, but it's never impossible because we are living in a world full of chances and potential." Just kidding, it's just my own words lol. But still, it's the improvement and innovation that we want, and always will be

Anonymous, 31 Jan 2017More explosive than note 7 :DI was admittedly one of the people who tried making fun of Samsung's Note 7 battery issue, but Samsung has already learned. Though very late, their new 8-Point Check Test will ensure the quality of their new upcoming devices, including the S8 and S8 Plus, and possibly the Note 8 will pass on it as well

Everything else is great but BURMESE/ MYANMAR fonts cannot read, or change or not in devie's language lists. IPhone 7Plus, Asus Zenfone, etc all others devices come with simple BURMESE FONTS alllw to chang in language setting
easily. SAMSUNG need to look into it many thanks..

Last rumors was the same battery as s7 and s7 edge. So both under 4500 mah. And the phone will blow up anyway, so who cares. Sammy go home, you went apple! Technology is like humans. It's not the outer that counts, but it's is the inner! The hardware is way more important than the huge slim look!

Reducing resolution saves battery power in another aspect. It reduces the GPU usage. It also improves gaming performance. And these are very useful things. All phone manufacturers should add an option to reduce screen (rendering) resolution.

Bigger? I'd say smaller. The comparison shouldn't be NAME driven, but screen size driven.
How is a 3,250mAh battery powering a 5.8” screen bigger than a 3,600mAh battery powering a 5.5” screen? Regardless of the power efficiency of a soc (which is laughable, but lets remain focused), the article doesn't state that BATTERY LIFE is better, but that they will have BIGGER BATTERIES, clearly a lie in my book.
