I can see great benefits for MS from this deal but i cant see what Nokia thinks is goin to gain.

Besides that, i have used many os's and i can tell with certainty that Symbian was the most reliable while WM was the most unstable.

I really hate it that Nokia pulls the plug on Symbian.
Still, i dont think i am goin to Android. Its ridicullus to have a new core every 2 months and not knowing if the phone manufacturer will develop a new version for your device. Its like you are paying for beta versions.

Anyway, i am against monopolies, no matter if its Nokia or Google, so may the best win.

Nokia really need a rest, take 2 aspirins and come back next to start a new. Going to Microsoft is plain stupid. I mean of all the available OSes, why on earth Nokia want WM7 ? and why not Android ?

Looks like this CEO is very much like the ex-apply guy, John Scully who kicked out Stevie and messed up everything in the final episode. This guy is not technical enough to get into gadgets biz.

Thats it, I'm dumping my e-series, Yo! Froyo, Ginger B, IceCream.....I'm com'in over.

Its a good deal... Nokia can modify Windows phone OS and make it more user friendly... moreover the upcoming phones will have the benefit of both Symbian and Windows OS thats what I guess.... and along with it they have the best in company hardware.... So hope Nokia & Windows makes the best out of it....

To be honest we dont really know if it will work or not.
if and this is a big if, if Nokia can make an WP7 to the same quality build as the N8 it could be interesting.

The plus is that Nokia have really good maps and really good cameras in there phones to me i cant think of any reason at the moment i would buy a Nokia phone.

MEEGO would sink without a trace with or without Microsoft it looks like its for babies.

People is a business not charity Nokia had to do something because its not working android is eating other companies and spiting them out like dust. Apples UI is looking really old, and Palm who knows whats going on their.

it would seem that Android is something exciting and improved to each update

I sadly shed a tear as I watch MS gleefully flush Nokia down the drain. No wonder the rest of the world hates Americans. Nokia shareholders, get out now, before its too late!

All I can picture in my head are the Execs at Apple, Google, RIM, and Samsung laughing away...

Nokia just finished digging themselves a grave. The company will no longer exist 2 years from now. They should have just sold out their Mobile division to Microsoft.

What a joke, brining in this microsoft CEO so he could go back to Microsoft and adopt their OS. Kindergarten stuff, zero innovation and creativity. Not what CEOs are made of.

                                    Blech.

Hmm, 11 Feb 2011"Microsoft just dropped a bomb" how did you work ... moreWe love us some corporate intrigue, and there's some intrigue of the highest order coming out of Finland today: local rag Kauppalehti claims that Nokia chairman Jorma Ollila had wanted the outspoken Anssi Vanjoki to step up, but was instead forced to endorse Microsoft executive Stephen Elop as Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo's successor to lead the embattled company by a team of American investors who demanded a CEO from the left side of the Atlantic. How "forced," exactly? Ollila was allegedly in line to be ousted if he didn't throw his weight behind Elop, which -- as IntoMobile points out -- is a bit odd considering that Ollila himself is leaving next year. All told, something seems fishy here; it's possible that Ollila is simply trying to save face with Finns (and / or Vanjoki himself) as he prepares to leave Nokia... or it's possible that hordes of vicious Americans with skin in the game collectively tightened the vice grips. Either way, Elop seems to be cleaning house in light of the Symbian move
