A lot of people are underesmating the potential here. Nokia is a very popular brand still. They have only not been as competitive in the smartphone war. I am an iPhone fan myself, but even I am not going to make the mistake of writing off a Nokia/Microsoft partnership. I feel that Android has the most to lose in this scenario, Nokia is a great brand for Microsoft to endorse it's OS, which may also affect the other phone makers to pay more attention.

        Yess! Move over Android!

Omg... good luck to Nokia, I'll be aiming at Samsung phones from now on.

jcbzone, 11 Feb 2011Unfortunately for Nokia, Microsoft has a lot of history of ... moreThere is nothing innovative anymore.....

Linux and Qt Developers are not jumping to Microsoft, they have alread pledged not to,check forum nokia.

MeeGo & Qt were the only hope for many developers & customers, now the new CEO Stephen Elop bring that to jeopardy,he's just a Microsoft trojan horse.

what a day, investors are furious, shares continue on the downward trend,

1 solution left: 'Shareholders should vote Mr Elop & his associates out',otherwise they will see their investment go down the drain.

Wp7-stupid, limited, useless, graham bell os going down from 0.1 to 0. And in the end, nokia decided to go with wp7. Good luck and goodbye nokia, IT WAS NICE MEETING YOU.

Unfortunately for Nokia, Microsoft has a lot of history of failing partnerships, products & acquisitions. Dont get me wrong I hope Nokia + MS will develop something new & innovative we like. But for now im a little skeptical yet hopeful. Competition among smartphones is good for us consumers.

It's just windows and Nokia might not mix properly. Not sure what will happen but I will NEVER buy a winmo phone.

I don't think this a bad move for both companies, both has the resources, if they joined together, a good hardware making and a good software making company, it will bring better result. Symbian is stone age.. i don't think it will ever compete with iOS and Android..

And let's face it, Nokia is way way better than any other companies with regards to hardware (multimedia and durability).. and microsoft, it's WP7 is not that bad.. when Android started, it was a big crap.. as time passes by, WP7 can cath up..

nokia chairman "jorma ollila" put axe on his own foot by choosing stephen elop as ceo.

nokia chairman wanted vanjoki for ceo, american investors forced him to pick elop

this proves that american software business ceo are very egotistic.

                                    end of nokia symbian meego

jorma ollila is now regreting his decision .mistake created by him will continue to be as nightmare for him in his 7 generation

Is Nokia killing Symbian ecosystem? I understand they want to expand offerings and capitalize on Windows ecosystem, but why to kill another one? It is odd that a good OS as Symbian was cannot be updated with up to date UI. I was looking at buying S^3 phone but holding off a bit with expectation that developers resume writing for Symbian. Who is going to do anything at all for Symbian now? Their S^3 phone sales will tank and they will look to an awful 2011 as well. I do not feel assured that I will see more S^3 applications now and do not see a reason to buy N8 or E7 or anything else. It looks like I will have no choice but moving to Android. the upcoming Atrix from Motorola looks good.

il start by saying tht nokia needed this..and had they not been so persistent they cudve jumped the android bandwagon..and then i would've bought one..but im not expecting windows to develop in a couple of years..itl take around four years for nokia to produce what apple and htc are already producing..
