For me, this news equals to: GOODBYE NOKIA !!! - GOODBYE FOREVER !!! (I pledge NEVER to give a cent to anything even remotely related with Nokia).
I would say good luck to Nokia, but that would be an utter lie. I would really be glad to see Nokia bankrupt and erased from the mobile market. The END.

Surely they could have selected an OS that would not kill the hardware and drive the user crazy?
Just about anything has to better than windows!
But the writing was on the wall with the executive shake-up they had last year :(

Its good, two wrong makes one right?
If they dump MeeGo for WP7 then Nokia is over and out, i hope they will still give enough attention to MeeGo to keep it interesting.
Still, Nokia need hardware to run this, and curently they dont have any powerful devices to install WP7 on. So why would anyone who want WP7 chose Nokia over HTC? Noone who cares about performance. Nokia need lotsa new models at once to start pushing WP7 and judging from their current lineup there is no reason to think that they can suddenly catch up with for example HTCs experience in utilizing modern hardware for WP7. It will take years, and in teh same years the other manufacturers will not stand idle and let Nokia play catching up.
Can Nokia ever close he gap again when they have fallen so far behind?

Wait a minute, maybe they will release wp7 starter, wp7 premium and wp7 ultimate...
Various os on same hardware...
And yes, you have to pay more, to upgrade from starter to premium just for its transparent interface...
Great...

[deleted post]I'm a nokia user and a symbian fan and yes, the wp7 interface is boring.
it seems you fail to depreciate the divergence between windows phone and windows phone 7. Nokia and microsoft are trying to recreate the current situation in the pc world in smartphones. Its a long term foolproof plan. Every windows user would want get a wp device and nokia won't be h just any manufacturer. They own wp in part.

It makes sense to me though. Nokia have failed to deliver an OS that can compete with IOS and Android, while WP7 like it or not has shown potential. Microsoft on the other hand have failed to find a partner who makes good enough hardware, so enter Nokia. This is a match made in heaven.
Symbian has failed folks. Too many bugs for an OS that's meant to be the start of the fight back. Maemo am sure is now a mature OS I wonder why it's not been brought to the fore.
