1 main reason why nokia will not gamble with android is that its too late for them to enter the stiff competition in android world where samsung and HTC joined android for at least 1.5 years

I read another article recently that Nokia R&D only cared about megapixel. So, there is no new product because there is no megapixel improvement. Where Nokia recruit the RnD from.

Nokia's move is practical for survival. Google and Apple are too powerful companies to fight alone. Android phones are eating up Nokias market share very fast and apple only needs to release a cheaper version of Iphone to dominate the market. and by teaming up with Microsoft they might stand a chance of fighting off its challengers

There's nothing wrong with outsourcing in business. When a specialized software company offers a better product than what you are developing at a price that's hard to resist (WinMo 7 is probably provided at a sweet discount for Nokia), why not? This partnership enables Nokia to put modern smartphones on the market at a minimum amount of time (and probably budget), compared to rewriting Symbian or MeeGo to better compete with Android or IOS. While Nokia's WinMo phones provide usable money to the company, Nokia can develop Symbian, MeeGo, and Series 40 further at their leisure, if so they choose.

Nokias were (and still are) good, as long as you're looking for a phone. Nokia's phones do their thing like calling, messaging, and the occasional emails and web browsing extremely well, with minimum fuss. Their build quality top notch, and their operating systems, particularly the Series 40, are robust and never disappoint. Today's people, however, wanted more than those. We wanted desktop-like web browsing, full SNS support, Flash 10, DivX/XviD, 3D games, and everything we traditionally use desk/laptops for, on a device that must fit in our pocket. The market is flooded with these "palmtop computers" that look very similar, use nearly the exact same operating system, and most have problems with getting up to 48 hours' worth of battery life under regular use. We asked for this. Nobody buys "cellphones" in the traditional sense anymore, and this is why Nokia is in trouble. Not because of their operating system, but because they did not give us what we wanted. Hopefully Nokia's partnership with Microsoft work out well for both companies, so we can still see excellent Nokia devices on the market, with operating systems that better tackle today's "wants".

AnonD-37, 14 Feb 2011So Elop basically trashed Symbian on his "burning plat... moreAnd not too long ago the almighty brand was known to release dozens of "so called new" phones every "month", and there must be at least "several" in each show like MWC.
And we get NONE this year? Wasn't the almighty brand known to take out one or 2 features and make another "new" phone (like 5800->5530->5230 etc...)?
Seems like the platform is collapsing faster than most think, as it may burn out before more OIL is being poured into the fire!

AnonD-37, 14 Feb 2011So Elop basically trashed Symbian on his "burning plat... moreOver a week ago some people talked about how popular the almighty brand is, as whenever there is "news" regarding the almighty brand here in GSM Arena, it would generate at least 400 comments (even though at least 40% being defenders of the almighty brand against)
After the announcement on Friday, I haven't seen almighty brand fans like DSB.(did he get lost in space?)

Time is inevitable change. Of all this bashing comments against nokia (even by loyal nokia users and those who supports droids), you forgot something even other brands have some point of time when they switched to android while Nokia was winning over its million customers. Now its time for the KING BRAND NOKIA to make its point and they will return with some thing new to the world. Even if its WP 7 I TRUST NOKIA , they will show you a new face of smart phones. and you droid lovers hold onto your brand till Nokia takes over smartphone world in coming years . Just wait and see.
