AnonD-387177, 07 Feb 2017Single core will always be a problem....for android though.... moreDont forget that many companies put lots of RAM, yes, but only cheap LPDDR2. Only big companies put LPDDR4. You need high-speed RAM to compensate for poor single-core performance.

Anonymous, 07 Feb 2017Still a problem with single core performance.. Single core will always be a problem....for android though. Single core is a problem solved by more RAM. Because newest chipset can go for 10nm only with 2.4 Ghz...But A73 in kirin is awesome. Comes down to optimisation. Which will be the best on OnePlus probably.

But this figures are barely over Kirin 960. So Kirin 965 should be better.

AnonD-312078, 07 Feb 2017Yet, my Nexus 5 is still disgustingly quick. My iPhone 4 too (at least that's what I tell to myself). Point is phones can always get faster and until we'd get "instant interaction" there would be room for improvement. SOC is secondary in importance anyway, ram amount is more important as recalling from ram often is the best predictor for a speedy phone.

Again, look at the website or general apps comparison, A10 is slower in comparison LoL.

Who cares, you will see zero difference in day to day operations from last generation devices, even 2 year old phones, these benchmarks are only for geeks.

AnonD-381576, 07 Feb 2017Single core is more important for Apple, but not truly for ... moreDid you forgot that most "octa cores" are in fact BIG.little, that means more like double quad core, because you can use just a area of cores? Some apps may benefit 4 cores instead of 2, like games, heavy photo edit, heavy usage of chrome, but in most scenarious single core performance is more important than the multi core performance. Most apps don't use the SOC at 100%.

835 can be clocked higher than 1.9 GHz.. Expect higher scores in other devices. ;)

If it scores 2000 single core at 1.9GHz, then it will score 2600 single core at 2.5GHz, it's normal clock speed, pretty good, not even close to Apple 10 Fusion's 3300, but a solid 40% increase over Snapdragon 821, and 52% over Snapdragon 820.
