Even if the size of the phone is "small" because the phone has next to no bezels, those huge displays can still not be used with one hand, which is the point those of us who like smaller screens are making.

"Although having a class leading 92h of endurance, Mi5 HAS THE WORST BATTERY LIFE (Your sentence) among all the xiaomi phones launched this year. "

mmj321, 09 Feb 2017Mi5 has the worst battery performanceWake up from sleep lol. Read mi5 Gsmarena review. Read the endurance rating.
All normal size flagships with 3000mah battery
                1) Mi5 3000mah sd820, 5.2" 1080p LCD : 92h
                2)LG G5 : 2800mah 5.3" QHD LCD : 60h
But don't make excuse for smaller battery coz
                3)HTC 10 3000mah 5.2" QHD LCD : 66h
But don't make excuse for LCD screen coz
4)S7 ( always on display not activated) 3000mah 5.1" QHD
                A) exynos 80h
                B) sd820 70h
Now don't make excuses for QHD resolution coz
                5)Xperia xz 2900mah SD821, 5.2" 1080p LCD : 74h
But you will say battery is 100mah small. So here is the example with 3000mah battery, 1080p AMOLED.
                6)Oneplus3 3000mah 5.5" sd820, 5.5" AMOLED : 66h
But even with 13% larger battery,
                8) Oneplus 3T 3400mah, 5.5 " 1080p AMOLED : 84h

And also, Mi5 s plus, 5.5" 1080p AMOLED have a huge 3800 mah battery and endurance rating 104h.
So you better lie somewhere else because it is Gsmarena.

Usually the processing power consumption is 20-30% of the battery life. New chip's 20% efficiency, probably benefits you 4-6% of extra battery life. The advantage of the new chip is to run faster with the same power consumption and not to save battery life.

On the contrary a 19:8 (6.2" screen) in the S8+ vs 16:9 (5.5" screen) in the S7 edge. It's a 20% increase in screen area. Unless they have a more efficient screen, i dont see improvement in battery life. Probably be like the S5 to S6 transition, where we see same to inferior battery life.

You have to see this different.
The new S8 will have a 5,8" screen, but because of the other ratio, the actual surface of the screen will be about ~5,4". This is because we measure screen size in diagonal.

The chipset will be (even) more power efficient and the screen will be too & because the screen isn't actually a lot bigger in terms of surface, and it will also be a bit more power efficient, the endurance will be about the same or a bit better than the S7. Mark my words.

                        Cheers

There is no need to blabber about the note7 batteries.. samsung pushed the envilope too much for sake of maximising battery capacity per volume interms of internal separators and external compartment. otherwise sdi batteries are top tech and quality... now they might be too cautious and well back to low capacity.. although one hammer strike to an s7 easily blows it up

This time battery life is as important as performance. 3000 mAh for 5'8 of screen and 3500 mAh for 62 is quite unfortunate. Very bad at all. Increase it and make us happy using them.

Why screen is so large? No more small phones with high end specs? Its getting bigger and bigger yet human's hand still the same size. I think many people still prefer medium or small size phones with same performance. Look at the iphone. Apple still make 4.7" screen size phone and people also prefer smaller size over the plus version which is 5.5"
