Watch the Nokia N8 and iPhone 4 get test tortured to death

18 February, 2011
When we buy a new phone we are always concerned if its body is scratch-resistant or will it get dirty quickly. This is essential information because when the time comes to sell it, the better it looks the higher price...

I have seen both the phone, I accept the Apple iPhone has many advantages over N8, but N8 is not that much worst to get just 400+ points when compared with around 700 what iPhone 4 got.

            Here's the proof: http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/16/live-from-apples-iphone-4-press-conference/
Steve Jobs himself says that !!!

About crap n8, it has sold only less than 4 million units in whole Q4....and that too was thought to be a bit exaggerated.

AT the same time galaxy S had sold 10 million units.

AnonD-1825, 19 Feb 2011Guys THIS IS NOT nokia vs iPhone WAR. The test is same for ... moreso what you're saying is that it's a perfectly valid to give a score of 0 if, for example, they do a 1-ft drop on carpet first resulting in the phone inexplicably not being able to power on again. even though it's known that majority of cases the phone would survive such a drop, all subsequent testing of the phone will result in a score of 0 due to the edvice already being broken.

people are correct in that the tests are flawed / bad.
more accurately though they aren't 'scientific'.

              but that isn't the point.
the point is to get many people's eyes on their website.
once they get their mass, they can try to make some money off of it.

This is by far the stupidest test I have ever seen... The iphone was dropped on it's side most of the times so it won't cop it and break. the results for the iphone weren't even shown.
I can't believe GSMarena would even bother with such an article.
It's like they are just adding fuel to the fire and like seeing people comment.
                Shame....

It's not like They dropped the N8 at 4.9ft onto tile and gave it a 15/30. So whats the problem here? they simulated the fact that both phones would be submerged in water, guess what? People drop their phones into water pretty frequently too and the N8 failed where as the iphone 4 didn't. Quit your whining, dang Nokia fanboys can't grasp the concept that their "aluminum body" phone isn't so indestructible after all. Funny how the iphone 4 continued to function after being submerged in water and beer where as the N8 died after submersion into water. Maybe the iphone 4 has a level 4 protect sell cast on it huh? Those Russians and their magic, that's what they must have done! Obviously that is the only logical reasoning as to why the iphone 4 passed where as the N8 didn't.

MY iPhone4 feel in the water 3-5 seconds. it was nearly dead unless i unscrewed the phone and the battery till it turned ON back again..

[deleted post]Look at the graph on this link. Scroll down a bit until you see "History and availability". On the right side of it is a color coded graph of the iPhone models sold in q1 2011 and previous quarters. The figure on q1 2011 only includes the 3gs and ip4. Click on the graph. I am looking at the whole thing while you stupidly don't understand. The graph is color coded. You even thought it was a financial report. Lol

These tests are stupid. They didn't show damage on the ip4 because they feared lawsuit from Apple.
I feel lot safer from getting scratches or cracking the glass with my N8 than anyone feels with their ip4. The warranty on ip4 is void if your phone brakes in sub-zero or plus 35C. The most common phone to come in the workshops for glass-replacement is guess what, iphone4!
Facts speak for themselves, biased stress-tests are stupid.

Drop it higher and they will risk shattering it. I just find it unrealistic as most of us would drop our phones accidentally at a height higher than 1.6 feet. I think this test is flawed based on the height it dropped on the tiles.
