Been with USB Type C on smartphones since March last year, it's a blessing not having to fight over cables in the household as everyone else is either microUSB or lightning.

I've a brief experience with it in the ill-fated note 7 and i liked it. It was fast. But i don't see the need for it right now. You can well get things done with the regular micro usb.

Got a wireless case on my iPhone SE, so never attach a cable, except when in the car, and that's actually microUSB because the case has a microUSB input, not Lightning! (Prob a cost cutter as the case cost only £10.99 on Amazon.) Had an LG G5 and so have a USB-C cable in the car. Will get a G6 if the 2nd camera is wide angle and so, when in the car, will charge the phone using the USB-C cable of course as I have yet to find an in car wireless charger.

I just purchased a new LG V20 and right now it's just sitting in its box in my drawer. I'm not too excited about switching to Type-C since most of my electronic devices use micro USB.

AnonD-39937, 19 Feb 2017Wireless is the next... It's the true universal there are already different standards for wireless, like WLAN for internet, bluetooth for short-range communication, NFC which makes same as bluetooth, qi for wireless charging....

Herodroid, 19 Feb 2017well, probably your 'brand new' laptop is an old model haha... moreLenovo Yoga 710 14". It was released in 2016. It's not the newest thing ever, but it's still the latest gen in its series. I'd rather have it than the only 2 USB-C ports manufacturers put in their laptops nowadays. And on sale for $600, I couldn't pass it up

Someone Else, 19 Feb 2017Nah. I don't think it will be that soon. Maybe in 2030. USB... moreToday, in Q1 2017, the high end ultrabooks are USB-C only and any laptop unveiled at least in the second half of 2016 has at least one or even 2 USB-C...so in an year and 10 months I think that a vast majority of the laptop market will go full USB-C... USB-C is the future... Lol in 2030 I think ports will be a thing of the past :))))
