We all know apple is against music piracy because thats what the purpose of itunes is? Selling mp3's. If apple enabled you to transfer music seamlessly then they would be cutting into their own profit margin? That's like Sony selling you an emulator for your PS3 in which you can just download game roms for PS1 off the internet and not buy it off the PSN? Photo sharing can be done via SMS?

I dont know whether iPhones can do this, since its downloadable content is restricted to Apple stores etc, never tried before, but Nokia can also run fast downloads from file sharing sites like megaupload and hofile.

Itunes is available on both OSX/Windows and is also available to some extent on Linux? throw your PC out of the window, obviously you lack the ability to use the google search bar. If you seriously thought you needed a MAC to run itunes/iphones/ipods you're seriously misinformed. Oh well, this is the sort of intellectual level I should be expecting from a Nokia fanboy.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2011Why would Iphone need bluetooth transfer? Thats the point o... moreyou make a compeling arguement. But at some points i have to disagree. Such as 'why would the iphone need bluetooth transfer'. Iphone users always think that they can send stuff through email. Ok then, try sending a collection of 200 songs to another phone through email. I did that with my n8 and send it to my friends c3 in just 20 min. Bluetooth is still one of the most prefered mode of transfer from phone to phone and not having a proper one like the iphone is one heck of a deal breaker for me.

And i dont like the fact that i have to be locked down to a software such as itunes whenever i connect it to my pc.

I think that nokia is staying with symbian cause they are not ready with wp7 just yet. They should hafe gone with meego if you ask me.

AnonD-743, 27 Feb 2011It was Nokia that made smartphones popular with Symbian, ma... moreRight... the Iphone didn't revolutionize the smartphone market. Go tell that to any mobile review site and they'll out right laugh at you till you cry in shame. Is that why after the introduction of the iphone EVERY, EVERY phone manufacturer made an all touch screen based device? Even your precious Nokia has finally switched over to touch screen, even then they fail at it. N900, N97, N97 mini who the hell uses resistive? Nokia is still making resistive touch screen devices. Also look at the time from the introduction of the iphone till now, smartphone buyers have increased at an exponential rate and has over shadowed PC buyers. Without Iphone there wouldn't have been Android, without iphone Nokia would be releasing S60 9th edition now and no S^3. Nokia doesn't deserve respect, they deserve to be ridiculed, they basically had a monopoly in the smart phone segment and was too smug about it and got slapped. Yet even when getting slapped they were too stupid to retaliate. Look at Intel, they were smug about their P4 line and AMD stomped all over them. Did intel sit back and rely in their idiotic fanboys? No. they retaliated and released Core/Core 2 Duo series and basically destroyed AMD now. Yet what does Nokia do? Sit back and refuse to innovate and then when they get their ass kicked their R&D department blames it on upper management? Saying all this crap about how they had these ideas and couldn't implement it due to hierarchy? Yeah okay, Nokia can claim anything they want now that it's too late. Why not claim that they intended to introduce flux capacitors and time travel but was stopped by management.

Tell me this why does nokia fail to innovate and entice consumers despite spending more on R&D than any other mobile manufacturer?

            http://hbtechguru.blogspot.com/2011/02/nokia-spends-more-on-r-than-anyone-else.html

4 billion on R&D and all they can bring to the market is some crappy ass device like the N8 with its 6+ year old cpu, 256MB ram, S^3 that is barely catching up to the competitors? Nokia can't even get onscreen qwerty right, why doesn't NOkia just hire people off of android marketplace as they can make an onscreen qwerty in like a day? hahhaa

              Such double standards.

btw, symbian users, Free Isms just went free (lol). For those who don't have this almighty threaded sms feature yet.

TS isn't a pre requisite for smartphones. S60 is undisputed on non-ts part.

If you point out that nokia users don't use smartphone aspects of their phone, then I could also point out Iphone owners who bought their iphones WITHOUT UNLIMITED DATA PLAN, only call and text (riding the cool bandwagon, not all of them though)

Thats the point of the proprietary usb connector and itunes? mass storage device? Again, itunes. Yes, Nokia didn't have threaded SMS until quite recently, Nokia messaging sucked. I had to install a third party app to get threaded SMS on my E71, and even then it was a hassle getting the app signed since it wasn't certified. woo you got me there right? Even though android 2.2 has the same percentage as 2.1 devices, however those 2.1 devices are due to manufacturer's reluctance to upgrade those devices to increase sales of newer devices. Take for instance G1, HTC has said that they simply can not make 2.1+ for the device yet there are custom roms for it. Nokia isn't dropping symbian? Maybe you read it wrong when Stephen Elop outlined Nokia's roadmap saying SMART PHONE WILL BE WP7. S40 is still considered symbian I hope you know. Nokia will continue to use S40 for lower end devices because quite frankly those people buying those devices don't care for smart phone features. Yeah your link is really good, except for the fact that Nokia still wants to sell E7's. Why wouldn't they lie to your face if they want to make sales? That's like a car manufacturer that's going bankrupt will tell you that they will continue to provide warranty service for their cars despite the fact that they're going out of business.

yes nokia makes smartphone popular just like apple makes capasitive screen popular. where there is a hype others will follow.
apple improve touchscreen because its bussiness, you need selling point in bussiness.
nokia, se, motorola, htc, palm start make touchscreen before apple, yes today they follow apple path just like apple follow them selling cellphone.
nokia dump symbian? well apple switch to use intel in their computer. they have to survive and another reason ms money. so whats your point?
threading sms? what about 3g capabilities? first gen iphone just 2g. well the secret is they focus on different thing.

I didn't said that Nokia made the first smartphone, I said that they were one of the firts and Symbian made it popular. Nokia didn't had "threaded SMS"? Only because their phones only had a single feature they are bad? As I said, Nokia introduced most stuffs that smartphones and even feature phone enjoy today, I didn't said that Nokia is perfect, but most of you people have no idea how it was important for the mobile market. Nokia is changing for Windows Phone 7 because it's new CEO is related with Microsoft and instead of doing hard work on Symbian to make it match the level of usability of Android, he rather put it on the second side and completely change Nokia behavior.
Yep, Nokia market share is shriking, I never said that Nokia is doing extremely well nowadays, I simply said that it's a very important company that did so many things for the mobile market and deserve respect.

Nokia didn't make the first smart phone by the way. Nokia is a genius and Samsung, Sony Ericsson, HTC are too stupid to make their own OS? Is that why Nokia is dropping Symbian S60/S^3 for Windows Phone 7 on their smartphone platform? You're a joke. Nokia didn't have threaded SMS until what? 2009? Something that simple and Nokia took that long to get it? Funny how Nokia is such this awesome company that you fanboys describe. Yet every financial analyst out there is advising people to sell their Nokia stocks and foresee Nokia's marketshare shrinking to pathetic amounts by 2013?
